ITCHY!!! That'll be the Beta Alanine..

Just tried MP Hurricane Extreme for the first time this morning and only had half the recommended dose which I think equates to about 1g of beta alanine.

15 minutes later I was itching like ****! For about 3 hours head to toe every inch of me.. literally..(right up the ...!)

Awful! I had no idea it had anything in it like that.. I wondered what the hell was going on!! Not great whilst driving into work. Thought I was having an allergic reaction, and was waiting for my airway to close up! It felt like I was covered in a combination of fibre glass loft insulation and straw!

Do I get rid of this stuff? Or should I adapt to it and get used to it?

I had another shake made up which was about twice as much as I'd had this morning and I gave it my mate at work, expecting his head to explode (I warned him prior) and he had no itching at all!

If I take the full dose, am I likely to itch for 6 hours? Go bright red and pimply? Don't think I could hack that.

Some people get quite a strong histamine itch from beta alanine whilst others don't.

One effective way is to split the beta alanine dose up throughout the day, and then gradually increase the dose.

Can't really get a lower dose than 1g though right? And its part of an all in one..

I'm thinking maybe this product isn't for me..

Come to think it, when I opened the pouch, it had what looked like white rocks in it. Could that by clumps of beta alanine? If I had a whole one of those in my shake then I will have had a lot more than 1g! lol

He cant split it up its in the product. Hes only taking half the shake as it is.

Beta alanine can cause itchyness but 1g for 3 hours seems your either really sensitive or its a 1 off. Id try another half a shake see how you get on.

If thats the case then its a whole different story but you did say your mate didnt have any symptoms.

Perhaps my shake this morning had a lump in it and my mates didn't? I will have to smash all these lumps and give it a good mix and see what happens tonight.

1g is a decent dose of BA and will cause some itchyness in most. In some it will be a pain.

Find another product without BA. Its not a prewo supp anyway. If that is the only dose of BA you planned on taking you wouldnt really be enough to see any effects anyway. Not that BA is a particular effective supp for most forms of weight training anyway.

Herein lies the fundamental flaw with all in one products - you can't tailor te ingredients to your own needs.

The reaction you're having to it should diminish over time. I was recently taking a well-known multivit which had BA in it and was crazy itchy at first but it soon wore off

unusual for only 1g to give that extreme reaction and for that long , does the product contain a large amount of Niacin ? that can do that in high doses almost like a rash for quite some .

No Niacin present in the formula from what I can tell on the ingredients list.

Either I am hyper sensitive to it, or one of those lumps was in my shaker. Will be trying 2 scoops tonight after smashing the white lumps apart and mixing well before scooping.

The feeling is called parathesia and James wrote an artivcle on it. Taken after a good meal you'll notice it less. It shouldn't last three hours mind. Twenty minutes for me.

I remember many moons ago when I first had beta alanine I got very bad itching all over to the point I decided to stop using it. As mentioned though with continued use these symptoms will ease.

Can anyone here say that they actually got anything from BA other than the tingles and itchy feeling?

I've seen some say it needs to be loaded daily for a pretty long time for it to have any real positives. Anyone done this with success?
