Im new, some questions about protein shakes.

Hi, I'm just starting out and have some questions about protein shakes. I have made a workout plan for mondays wednesday and fridays with the help of the sticky in the forum on beginner body building. I think you need to take the shakes when you wake, post workout and before bed on exercise days. My question is when do you take them on rest days? Also how much (in grams) of the powder should you use for each shake?

Many Thanks
Mat

    Welcom to Mt M8

It really depends on your goals m8, most people have whey 25g in water first thing in the morning on waking, between 25 - 40g post workout in water or milk depending on your gaol and then whey 25 - 40g in milk b4 bet ( milk will slow the relise of the protein througout the night.

Serving size would also depend on the product you are using

as already mentioned-the amount of powder you need depends on the protein content of the powder-and your goals. I take 2 shakes a day. On training days i take 30g in the morning, 30g postworkout with other things e.g dextrose. Nontraining days i take 30g in the morning and 20-25g elsewhere in the day

Thanks for the info guys and the warm welcome.

The powder im using is the all-in-1 unflavored whey powder, its 82% dry basis.

    Thanks again, Mat

    Hi mate,

Yes, it would be a good idea to take shakes on your rest days as you will still be building muscle on these days.
