Imaginative Gains

I like to think that ive gained on some lean muscle since the 5/6 weeks training.. honey moon? but just wondering if im imagining it formyself, do any of you guys tend to look at things that arent there? About a week ago id of said i see no gains at all, even though my gf said my shoulders had got much bigger - but i dont see it. Really looking forward to august when i get to see the gf, im secretly hoping she goes "wow. you put on some muscle" because right now im torn between thoughts of whether its imaginative gains im seeing or it really is gains.

5/6 weeks isn't very long, but you may well be able to see some results. I've been training for about 6 months and I wasn't very big to start off with but I've started getting people telling me how good I look or how much broader my shoulders are and stuff like that. It really spurns me on to work harder. Although, some days I can see it when I look in the mirror, other days I'm not so sure.

if it's your first 5-6 weeks, probably you have gained - initial improvements are often dramatic.

take a photo of yourself so you can see improvements more accurately.

good luck with the gf, i hope she's impressed with all your effort

take regular photos and measurements, ie tape measure and scales. Use these methods in combination to determine if you have made gains.

My GFs family I only see maybe twice a year (live a long way away) and someone always makes comments which is a nice change from "you eat too much"

Haha, yeah, comments are always a confidence booster... even if they are along the lines of 'eating all that will make you ill.'

Hope you're not just doing it to impress the misses mate. You should be doing this for yourself, not others. BTW, how come its so long before you see her? - you in the army or something?

Im doing it for myself and for basketball - one of my first loves. Also my grandad who lifted when he was younger, he really inspires me - hes fought so hard nowadays with his condition but has always kept smiling and for him to see me with big gains and comment on it would probably put a tear to my eye. But for the gf being able to see me like that is just an excellent excellent bonus, itll really boost my confidence if she does notice a difference and yeh, of course, itll be a great change to "you eat alot" ..(altho i h8d today in terms of diet) im alrdy getting sarky comments from the boss about eating so much. I just dig myself deeper when i try to explain.

I havent seen her since the start of the summer, its because each summer the council where i live offers me an IT student placement, which would look great on my CV; so i im being sensible and taking it. In august ill be moving back to Dundee for University and ill see her again

Theres nothing wrong in doing it for your missus - its was my wifes sarcastic comments that got me started. Incentive from anywhere is good - even from people with a good old evil sense of humour. Once you're addicted you end up doing it for your self.
I use my missus as a guide. Yes it is hard to see especially at first but my own wife noticed changes after a few weeks even though I couldn't.
The rub - I discovered is - that for all the improving you do to make yourself more physically appealing - it won't improve your sex life unless your girlfriend/wife feels that she too is in good shape.
