Import AAS for personal use

Hi guys

Anyone know what the law is surrounding importation of AAS etc?  I had a package of HCG and HMG  siezed, the police then searched my premises and found 20 vials of testosterone pharma grade with syringes and seized the lot saying I broke the law and categorised it as class C.

I was under the impression I could import for personal use 3 months supply.  They wont return my items.

Any advice

I'd be curious to know more about this myself. It seems to be a grey area. I too thought possession of pharma grade was legal. I'm thinking that it might be the case that possession needs to be supported by a prescription, in which case there'd be no need to buy online, since it would be NHS-subsidised as all preseciption meds are in the UK. The inferrence being if a person buys online they are doing so without a prescription or valid medical reason for possession. Just a though.

You may import legally steroids (a medicinal product) for personal use. Bear in mind UGL products are not medicinal.

Anabolic steroids are controlled as Class C drugs under Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (the 1971 Act) and listed under Schedule 4, Part II of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 (the 2001 Regulations).  However, under Regulation 4(3) of the 2001 Regulations, it is not an offence to possess anabolic steroids when they are in the form of a medicinal product.  Under Regulation 4(2) of the 2001 Regulations, anabolic steroids are also excluded from the application of offences arising from the prohibition on importation and exportation when imported or exported “in the form of a medicinal product by any person for administration to himself”.

Accordingly, under UK legislation, one is allowed to import and possess steroids which are in the form of a medicinal product for their own personal use.  However, any supply of anabolic steroids imported for personal use, including giving them away to friends, amounts to a breach of the prohibition on the supply of a controlled drug under the 1971 Act.

The 2001 Regulations do not specify the maximum quantity that you can import for personal use as this is at the discretion of UK Border Agency officials. The Home Office Licensing and Compliance Unit advise that the maximum quantity imported should not exceed three months’ supply as larger quantities may be deemed for commercial purposes and could be seized. Please note that the Home Office view is not legal advice.  Authoritative interpretation of the law is a matter for the courts.

So Nomad, your problem is twofold.

1 - Your product was seized at the border. It depends how much you had coming in to ascertain whether it's worthwhile trying to get it back.

2 - Your testosterone was seized by the police in your house. If it is pharma test, and only 20 amps, then if it were me I'd would be seeking return of the goods since posession of such amounts would surely be considered legal. Also, they cannot take your syringes etc as posession is completely legal

Very good post by PB above.

I suppose, Nomad, that you should look into appealing against the decision to confiscate your stash!

    Done.
    Thanks PB excellent advice.
The package was legit pharma about 2 months supply
My gear was Testoviron by Bayer and Testolic by British Dsipensary and about 50 syringes and needles.  I will be looking to get my gear back but the HMG and HCG need to be refridgerated so if I dont get it soon, it will be bunk

I had a similar experience, albeit that they (Police) came round for something else, wich wasn't there cause they had obviously got their info wrong. (or id pissed someone off, who gave them the wrong info...more like).
Anyway they took 40 1ml amps of norma test e, when i tried to get it back they refused saying they would be supplying me with steroids now it was in their posession...
So i just put it down to a loss, as the chance of getting legal aid on that kind of case is probably low and id'e pissed them off enough anyway so it seemed.

Pleased that PB has addressed BD here. I've always considered BD UGL, but I've seen other members in the past refer to it as phara.

Yes that's correct, assuming an offence has been comitted (which we don't believe is the case)

and that I have to have written consent from the GP or Hospital that I need it for TRT

No you don't. Do not give consent. You do not need to prove clinical need.

Clinical need is not required under the current legislation. The law states that posession is legal (within the form of a medicinal product) for personal use. The law does not state that a clinical need for that medicine is shown.

Just a thought, if he challenges them on the pharma gear might that piss them off into pushing for a charge over the UGL stuff? Or is the worst you could get for that anyway just a caution, like if you were caught with an eighth of weed on you or something similar

I guess theoretically possible, though would fall under counterfeit law. I can't see them pulling their hands out of their arses to persue a charge for a small quantity under counterfeit law tbh

    Cheers PB
    I found this also
Class C includes: certain drugs related to the amphetamines such as benzfetamine and chlorphentermine, buprenorphine, cannabis, cannabis resin, diethylpropion, mazindol, meprobamate, pemoline, pipradrol, most benzodiazepines, zolpidem, androgenic and anabolic steroids, clenbuterol, chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG), non-human chorionic gonadotrophin, somatotropin, somatrem, and somatropin
Schedule 4 includes in Part I benzodiazepines (except temazepam and midazolam, which are in Schedule 3) and zolpidem, which are subject to minimal control. Part II includes androgenic and anabolic steroids, clenbuterol, chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG), non-human chorionic gonadotrophin, somatotropin, somatrem, and somatropin. Controlled drug prescription requirements do not apply and Schedule 4 Controlled Drugs are not subject to safe custody requirements.
Therefore as you said PB the Police are talking carp

Out of interest, you said they searched "your premises", is this your home as if it is your business then they could possibly work on the assumption that it is not for personal use.  Especially if the business is in a field related to sales or sports.  Also, if other people have a chance to come into contact with it outside your family (which is allowed in the medicines act), then this again could be a reason to suggest it is not for personal use, even although it is.

The main question is how much HCG were you trying to get in?

That may be why they are looking at the possibility of intent to supply charge which is why they may be delaying return as it is classed as evidence?

    Good work from PB though
