Only the Jap import STi 5 forerunner.
Cost me £9k plus about £10k to keep on the road over the next 12 months.

What is it you want to know mate?

Not that! lol.  Was thinking of getting one next year,  bit of a jump for me but due a payrise so what the hell.  Just opinions really?  I reckon it'd be a better investment than the STI PPP due to being a limited run.  Any scooby owners opinions welcome.

All I can say mate is running costs are huge. But you knew that.
    Parts prices are just ridiculous.

Didn't think parts would have been that bad to be honest?  Parts for my MG ZS are silly!  Well, the parts that are known to fail!

    WR1 are nice cars.

IMO they are a bit pricey for what they are.

I used to have a UK spec Impreza (not WR1) and now have an Evo VIII.  I absolutely loved the Impreza but would recommend that you get an Evo.

If you must have an Impreza, get a JDM (import) as you get a lot better car for the money.

Also check out scoobynet.com - great source of information.

Wr1 are nice cars pal i used to have one and it was bullit proof, although they are quite high maintainence i,e oil changes every 5k but parts dont have to be that expensive if you shop around. But in the 3 years i had mine nothing went wrong with it even though it was slightly tuned.
But if its a scooby you want i would recomend  a P1 i have one now and its an amazing car.

P1's hold their value far too much and I prefer the later shape, especially the more aggressive bonnet vent in 04.  What makes the P1 special?  Oil change every 5k doesn't bother me.

P1 is the UK equiavalent to the STi Type R.

ie it's properly focussed road weapon rather than general UK STis which IMO are a bit soft compared to their Jap counterparts.

Would still go for JDM STi if you are prepared to pay WR1 money.

WR1 will (is, does!) hold it's value better than an equivalent year STI / STI PPP. Parts and servicing are not really any different to an STI either, you might want to change the oil a bit more frequently.

It is quicker than an STI PPP however it is not as quick as the official figures - it will not do 0-60 in the quoted time of 4.25s for example.

All depends on what you want to do really, the WR1 is probably the most desirable of the blob eye UK Impreza's. So if you want a UK blob eye that's probably the one to go for.

As Monitor said if you're going to spend WR1 money I'd be inclined to get a JDM STI and a few tweaks, but, then you're not in a Uk car, nor a standard JDM one...... Or you could get a Type-25 MK1 Litchfields have one at £14k.

Type 25 is an idea but I'd imagine due to being a little more highly strung, a little less reliable?  One of the reasons for wanting the wr1 is due to being a limited run, I would expect it to hold it's current value for a guid while, I've seen them averaging 10-12k!?  What a car for the cash! Plus, looks so damn good in that colour and without the tacky blue seats.

I agree, I think the Ice blue of the WR1 is stunning.

I don't think there are too many reliability problems with the Type 25, on the other hand they are a niche product (even in special edition Impreza terms) and most are not used very much. You could do worse than give Iain Litchfield a call, or maybe ask on Scoobynet, I know there are some owners on there.

What about a GB270? Limited run, 270PS, same torque as a WR1 and come in blue saloon or grey wagon.

Can pick up one with around 10,000 miles for around 14-15k at the moment.

I've had the GB270 wagon for a couple of months now and lovin it!

NO, 'cos it's a WRX - nice car though it is, he'll probably be wishing in his mind that he bought an STi.

    I speak from bitter experience....
