Injury advice please :-(

Just got back from my gym (garage).  Not a very good day at all.  Bottom of my 1st work set on squats and crack/pop feel in my ribs.  The exact location is on my left back at the bottom.  I am now in quite a bit of pain.  It is painful to touch, hurts on a deep breath and hurts when I lean to my right.

What have I done?

Bit of back ground.  My left ankle is still not very flexible.  On occasions I do drop down into a squat slightly wonky (more onto my right).  This may of happened this time as a result more pressure on my lower back left side area.

I was also wearing a belt when this happened.

Vid of me squatting a few weeks ago - https://vimeo.com/110657602

Thanks

You haven't done something daft like put the belt on too tight then squatted on it have you? Could possibly have popped a rib falling that maybe a disc in which case get yourself to hospital if it doesnt ease up.

Go to a chiropractor and they can pop the rib back in place. You will have residual soreness for a few days but be able to bend to the side and deep breathe. Had a friend do the same thing doing crossfit.

Well first of all stop dive bombing your squats. You don't have enough control to be doing this. A slower eccentric phase will improve strength more quickly anyway. Don't squat that low. You're losing tightness in your back at the bottom, which may be the reason this has happened. Flexion of your lumbar spine bringing your lowest rib into contact with your belt, and POP.

Also get stretching and rolling your bloody soleus! You shouldn't need Oly shoes and a wooden block! Do this stretch here at 1:15 for 3 minutes everyday rocking side to side to either foot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txGj5dPTKpw&list=UU9WS-j2VvWnGn1hxcBqHpKA&index=12

Where is the pain, on your side on around the back closer to your spine? You may of just pinged it hard against your belt and now it's bruised. It could be a fracture or if the pain is close to your spine, a dislocation.

Yeah I thought preventatives were better than the cure as well.

Thanks Jack, I did post the same video 2 weeks ago asking for feedback and got none so technically MT is responsible for my injury?!? HAHAHA (JOKE!!)

I am constantly stretching my ankle and surrounding muscles.  I have been seeing a physio every 1/2 weeks for 5 months now.  It is improving but we think we are getting close to the limit of what I will get back.  I shattered my talus.

The pain is not near my spine it more towards my side, so hopefully just bruised from my belt.  If it is still hurting on Thursday I will get my  physio to look at it instead of my ankle.
