true, that is awesome strength. but what is the idea in front box squats. i understand that pl'ers box squat to improve a certain part of their squat, ie if they struggle to lock out the last few inches, getting moving from parralel etc, but nobody front squats at a meet?

Strong lift, but a bit of a novelty!

Knee wraps and insufficient depth make this impressive but not insane.

There's strongmen in the UK who have done 260kg totally raw and deep, and one guy at 100kgish who has done 240kg unequipped VERY deep.

For insane strength on the front squat, look no further than this:

300kg (660lbs) done with proper form, to good depth and no equipment

those are huge weights for a front squat, i find anything over 80kg leaves me in serious pain in my shoulders, as the weight sits on my front delts not my chest

Daz- the bar should sit as close to your neck as possible, it's quite stable if you get it in the right position. People have choked themselves out doing front squats though, lol.

    I'm loving fronties personally atm.

    as above, i love fronties!!
hit 160k for a single last wk which i was v v happy with..
and as above, if u set urself up like in the vid badboy linked thebar should sit behind ur front delt, pretty much on the collar bone!sometimes it can trap a major artery tho :-( which isnt nice.. haha.

300k front squat is hideously strong tho..

im liking front squats at the moment too...got a 140kg for a double last week.
I find the heavier i go the more easily the weight sits..i do almost choke myself out before unracking though lol.

Andy Cairney had pissed 300-320 front squat.

Jimmy Marku also can piss 300-320kg on fronts

260 is a ok-ish number now days for a front squat

Both of the above "squat" too

Lol, well it looks pretty awesome to me anyway.
Not seen anything like this weight shifted in any form of front squat.

As has been said it is good old weight, but it is pretty high.

*The West* - box squats are generally not done to specifically work a sticking/failing/min-max point.

    what is their purpose, then?
are they used like "negative" reps-to take away the "energy" that builds up when squatting down? like DEADlift-DEADsquat kinda thing?
