Insulin, why 4weeks on, 4 weeks off?

I've researched a lot about insulin in the past few months and very often it is advised not to use it longer than 4 weeks at a time. What are the basics behind this claim? Does it apply to ED use or also post-workout only?
Has anyone done low/moderate doses of slin for longer? What are the potential side effects?

Thank you

Its just another rule of thumb, which there is no scientific basis for.

Its as simple as 4 weeks is a month, that seems a good round number, to be on the safe side lets do a month and then recover for a month.

I think its more the case of giving the individual "peace of mind" that they are doing something to prevent longterm complications ie the greatest fear being they may become a diabetic, although at present there is no evidence either way if this happens or not.

Low doses (10-15 i.u.) can't be done for longer than 4-5 weeks, because of low slin sensitivity. You can use slin post-workout only.

I use moderate dose 20-25 i.u. in the morning before meal and 10 i.u. post-workout. My slin cycles usually lasts approximately 2 month with 2 month interval between. For me it's very important to feel hypo after morning injection. If I can't feel hypo - it's a sign to break slin use.
Also I use 25mg of captopril in the evening to minimise fat accumulation.

basil584...you wait till you feel hypo?do you know how dangerous that is?go to the chemist and buy a bm testing pack to gauge your slin sen...once you feeling hypo you are in dangerous waters..make sure you have glucagon on hand and tell everyone around you what you are doing..this stuff will kill if not treated with respect..

    1. There is a scientific base for this method in the monographs of
doctor Bulanov. I'm not only wait for hypo, but keep it 30-40 min. Low glucose in the blood causes endogenous GH rejection. Average level of GH can be increased 5-7 times as much.
    2. Yes, this method is NOT safe. But I've only replied to Raoul's question.
    3. Sorry for my English =)

If there is a way to give yourself diabetes then waiting for the hypo is going to be it. And all for a blast of GH that you think should happen. 20-25 ius and then wait 30-40 mins?? No wonder you have a yellow glow !! :)

The only way to become diabetic is to use slin with GH (GH more than 4 units ED)! Slin alone strengthen pancreas as well as steroids. Have you ever see medical treatment of mentally diseased people by means of insulin comas? Maximum slin doses for such treatment may be about 200 ius. To hear from competent clinicians, patients have insulin shock at over than 60-80 ius.
Finally, bro, I envy you if you feel hypo after 4-6 ius after meal =) You have huge anabolic potential with insulin.

i think hypos are being overdramatised a bit, i have on average 2-4 most days when dieting and 3-5 every week when not dieting,i never go anywhere without food, dont get me wrong you feel like **** for a little while but they soon pass,it would only be dangerous if you never ate any carbs, also i think but not 100% sure your body releases adrenalin as a last measure to raise blood sugars if no food is consumed, obvoiusly if its a bad hypo it may not release enough.
