Is arms twice a week too much

Hi i,m trying to put mass on my arms. And am about to start training them on tues & fris. Would this be overtrainig them?

According to flex magazine a hardcore arm building program should consist of arms twice a week.

What do you think.

Unless you are taking steroids, 99% of routines recommended in any bodybuilding magazine will not work for you.

Training arms twice a week is WAY TOO MUCH. Post your full routine, and we can help you more.

So does every bodybuilder use streoids then. I,m just going by what they say.

    My current routine is :

    Mon Shoulders

    Seated Shoulder Press
    Upright Barbell Rows
    Seated Front Barbell Press
    Side Lateral Raises
    Rear Delts On Pec Machine

    Tues Back
    Seated Cable Row
    Narrow Grip Pulldown
    Seated Row
    Front Wide Pulldown

    Wed Legs
    Hack Squats
    Leg Press
    Hamstring Machine
    Seated Calf Raises
    Leg Extensions

    Thurs Chest
    Incline Dumbell Press
    Decline Barbell Press
    Pec Machine
    Cable CrossOvers

    Fri Arms/Tris
    Barbell Bicep Curl
    Dumbell Hammer Curl
    Dumbell Concentration Curls

    Close Grip Bench Press
    Skull Crushers
    Cable Tricep Pulldowns or Dips

I am thinking of using a split eg

    Shoulders/Back on Mon

    Arms on Tues

    Weds Free

    Thurs Chest/Legs

    Fri Arms

Have to say I agree 100% with Frankie on this one.

Mate I get the impression you are relatively new to bodybuilding; IMO you should cut back on the volume in your routine (train 3 days a week) and focus your efforts more on the main compound movements.

In answer to your question - not all bodybuilders use steroids but nearly all professional bodybuilders use them in large quantities.

I,ve been training for around 7months. So what is a good 3 day routine then? I want to pack on size, not overtrain and not undertrain if you see what I mean.

    Thanks

I'm kind of parcial to this routine: http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=57310 , but there are others.

In my experience, probably 90% of weightlifters overtrain. I have yet to meet someone who undertrains. I do, however, see many people who don't put in 100% effort when they do train.

Ya goto Frankies routine there... You won't be disapointed. I wouldn't change it though or you will run the risk of over training. Also sorry, but I laughed when you mentioned Flex magazine. Here's some advice... Everything in those magazines WILL work for people who are HUGE expirienced bodybuilders and steroid users. For natural trainers, you will just over train and get poor mass gains. Some of the basic ideas in those magazines are good, such as one I read on 5x5, but the routines are brutal. It said you should do a routine similar to Frankies except 2 times a week hahah... But ya. Unlearn everything you have learned from those mags, and then begin to absorb info from this site =]

I like the routine posted by Frankie a lot, it will certainly prove more effective than your current programme.
