    lmao, certainly not a joke

buckfast is a tonic wine made by the benidictive monks of buckfast abbey..

i used to drink it when is was 13-16

used to be the buckfast gets you fcuk'd fast

was fighting juice, drink it before we went to nightclubs and started fighting for no reasons

also used as a weapon most friday nights lol

and yes, if a shop usually sells it, then dont have no stock, they will prob get lots of abuse!

being an away Celtic supporter, Buckfast goes part and parcel with the bus for many fans! I've had a few bottles of it myself tbh.(Judge me if you like) It's a strong bottle of wine which gives you a drunkness I've yet to experience in any other drink. It has a bad stigma attached it as many youths/young adults drink it and then run riot! i.e people committing violent crimes/murder often blame it on the strong Buckfast wine in court. The wine makes me a happy drunk, not an aggressive one, but the high caffine makes it hard to sleep after you have been drinking it. Many sterotype you as a ned or chav for drinking it, but it's more expensive than most of the wines in the freshers. It's true it the official drink of the chav in Scotland, but if it didn't exist they would be drinking another drink and blaming their behaviour on something else!

Don't knock it until you try it!

Thanks for the insight Sundance and I am honestly not knocking it, I am just facinated when a particular drink acheives notoriety this way.

I may have to get a bottle and give it a go.

PS heard the word "ned" on that website too, what is the meaning of this? is it like a chav?

    Cheers

I think it achieves it notoriety due to being hand in and hand with a NED (Non Educated Delinquent) and a bad tracksuit. They are rarely seen drinking anything else!

The wine is also alot different from anything else, its very thick in texture, almost like a cough syrup in thickness. You'd have to try it! Although due to stereotypes many decent respectable people wouldn't!

Do they sell it in England? I know it's made there, but never seen it on any of my visits!

It used to be my tipple of choice. I actually likes the taste of it.

Tiger81's description is pretty much bang on the money.

I remember back in the days when one night I drank 3 bottles. Needless to say i remember nothing. The 'hangovers' from it are quite chronic though!!

Lol, thanks guys, have learned a fair bit there.

Check out a vid of a guy downing a whole bottle straight on Wido.co.uk, third vid down on the page.
From everyones descriptions it sounds like quite a feat!!

its not that bad, and at 6 quid a 750ml bottle its nots as cheap as some. 1 bottle before i go out make the night more interesting.

    good gear imo.

When i was a student my local pub got Buckfast in one time as a bit of a laugh as the owners were scottish and they sold it in double measures for about 90p - so we woulc drink double double buckfast and coke for about £2. Tasted pretty good really when mixed with tap coke as it's a bit bubblier and mixes better and i liked it! (heracy probably).

Was a decent cheap way to get drunk although i could feel a bit pikey drinking it knowing all the ned and chav links from the landlord telling me all about it

    Isn't it uneducated?

If the tonic wine is put in the freezer before drinking it's actually quite nice, it goes quite thick when it's really chilled.

All I need is a big gun and a coupe that's crazy quick...
