Reps will soon come back mate, to be expected after some time away from them.

Whats the plan with the sleeves now then? You gonna use them for now just for support while building up your reps again? Whens your next comp?

Oh yeh mate will take timw foe body to get used to it but will be good soon.

Plan is sleeves permanently now - just feel so much more secure with knee’s and no aches since used them. Next comp is 4th august and then one on 2nd november - need to order a singlet at some point. Will be for a diff fed (south east powerlifting) that allows knee sleeves for unequipped. Will still hopefully compete for bdfpa again but would need to be equipped class due ro sleeves.

Cracking work mate and your enthusiasm is to be admired. Just make sure you listen to your body and the experts so that knee doesn't become a long term issue. Looking good though.

Thanks mate. I love my training and having PB’s goals and comp’s is keeping me focused. Everyday i listen to body dont worry - knee currently feels good as new. Obviously specialist appointment will confirm one way or another and give me an answer on my clicking tendon

Tough one today. Strength felt high but the 2 big bench movements took it out of me. Dead bench achieved rep target of 10 but last couple reps def slowed down, very happy with strength reps on this though and Ox has decided on a slight changed for next weeks dead bench so watch this space! Slingshot finally hit a 6 rep set but followinh sets suffered. 3rd set was on verge of failing 1 inch below the pins and just had nothing left so had to twist/bump it up to save bringing it down to chest and rolling off. Was a slight oh f*ck moment! haha. Technically only 4 reps if we are being strict. Still very happy with how 'normal' 100 feels in my arms now and hopefully this will bode well for next few months.

Rest of sesh more volume work and got it done. Back to work for leftover beef and veg curry and rice after my protein shake and coco pops! Food of the gods!

Dead bench

Slingshot 3rd set

That last slingshot rep looked a bit dicey, you did well to get it back up that far.  Not sure I would have been brave enough to attempt that rep without safeties.  Dead bench looked sweet as though.  Great lifting mate.

It was on the edge...the 4th rep was hard but I was determined to get a 5th. No safeties at this gym mate and only 2 spotters I trust who weren't around - we all know the problems I have had when asking other people to spot. I don't use clips so worst case I lower bar back down and tip it so plates come off.

Not sure pushing to that point on your reps a week after getting back and on your programme is the most sensible thing to be doing

That last rep was a proper grinder, I honestly didn’t think you had it so well played for pushing through. Brave man doing it without safety’s or a spotter, I wouldn’t make a habit of it tho lol.

Bench was never something i could grind reps out on like squat so its cool that i can grind them put now. Yeh that last rep was really on the edge but I was determined to at the very least go for it. My gym has no safetys and spotters are quite u trustworthy give or take 1 or 2 so I dont use clips - worst case if bar is on my chest then i can roll to side so weights fall off.

So quick update on my knee - saw an orphopaedist friday eve for a specialist opinion of my knee. He gave it a thorough check and tested each ligament and tendon on knee. Says knee is very stable which is very good, ligaments are fine as he was concerned it was ligament damage first of all.

Diagnosis was a torn biceps tendon and still swelling there. Had an MRI scan after appointment - consultant was fantastic, soon as he heard i lifted was talking weights and didnt want me to wait for an mri. Results end of next week.

Surgeon reckons shouldnt need surgery but will need some medical treatment - all will be revealed next week.

Squats will be lowered in weight this week just to safeguard kneein case there is a major issue

Scary thing happened Sat - my little one was eating a ricecake and started coughing/couldn't catch her breath - thick flem started coming out her mouth and just couldn't catch her breath and was starting to go red, she wasn't choking I don't think but had to do something so first aid kicked in and couple thumps on the back with bottom of palm she managed to catch her breath and all ok. 10 seconds later same ricecake she spat out goes back in! Jesus funny but what a scary stressful thing to see.

Add that the disappointment of Liverpool finishing 2nd yesterday was ready to unleash at gym.

Deadlift
20 x 8
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 3
180 x 2
192.5 x 3
142.5 x 5
142.5 x 5
142.5 x 5

RDL's
100 x 10
110 x 10
110 x 10

Deadlift Row
100 x 6
110 x 6
110 x 6

Suitcase Deadlifts
67.5 x 6 per arm
67.5 x 6 per arm
70 x 6 per arm

CG Pulldown
61 x 12
61 x 12
61 x 12

Deads felt so so smooth rep wise. Toyed going beltless but decided I wanted that extra bracing so belted until end of this plan in 4 weeks. Had room for more reps at 192.5 as well which is just fuelling my confidence. Weight up across the board so will keep that rolling next week. Suitcase deads strongest ive ever felt on them - were flying up. A lot more in the tank today! banger of a session.

Dead’s looking very strong bud.

When you say torn bicep ligament.. that’s leg bicep, so Hamstring?

Next time you see them for results they should tell you what grade the injury is, this will dictate how your rehab goes..

grade 1 – a mild muscle pull or strain
grade 2 – a partial muscle tear
grade 3 – a complete muscle tear

Weird it’s not giving you any issues when deadlifting tho

Cheers mate.

No not the actual hamstring muscle but the tendon running off the hamstring connecting to knee - biceps femoris tendon. Get results friday so fingers crossed not too severe.

Luckily no issue at all when deadlifting, slight ache now but general it does ache of an evening. Havent rolled or done rehab yet this eve so hopefully that will help
