Couldn't train yesterday - migraine laid me up and just couldn't get head in gear so that was my rest day for the week.

God I love deadlifts. Wish every movement felt as easy as them. Deads felt strong and had more reps/sets if needed, they feel in a good place at moment. Looking forward to ramping up the weight in next few weeks. I am finding squats just don't feel 'on' at moment - may be forms off, may be getting used to sleeveless but they are not feeling bang on like last squat programme. Was working again with these squats to try and drive through legs rather then back taking over. Depth on 2nd squat vid should be better and want more speed but hoping will get there.
Managed to add an extra 2 reps per set on deadlift rows. If hit next week will move weight forward. Supersetted pulldown and ham curls as running out of time - decreased weight o pulldown as wanted to hit 12 reps per set, will move forward next week. Managed 1 extra rep on hammy curls so same weights next week.
 
My hammys cramped up in a meeting this afternoon - hour into it sitting down and both cramped so had to stand up. Happened twice more. Realised my himalyan salt intake is down last coupled days so imaghine theres a link there. Bunged some salt in a squash and wolfed a banana and back in meeting. Weirdly now my calves are majorly domming.

Checking comp day kit - need to wear briefs and shorts no lining &  Long socks for deads. Havent wore briefs since I was a kid! Should I start using long socks for deads now to get used to them or not make much diff between now and comp day?

Looks like a good session mate, deads looking super easy. Hamstring cramps are the worst and once you have one they keep coming back. Sound like you got it sorted though.

Shouldn't the speed squats be a bit speedier?

Yeh deads felt easy tbh cheers. Ah mate havent hd hammy cramps for years but kept coming back. Think sorted now with salts as not come back

Much more. I dont want to list them as speed squats but thats all the speed i can muster. I think weight needs to be dropped but see what coach Ox wants me to do

Week on week try to move them faster but i'm happy so far mate...%wise we are where we need to be...its not speed work as such...more explosive work.

Cracking repping!

Dont underestimate what a couple high rep deadlift sets will do to the feel of your squats .

But yes those are not speed squats at all. Speed work is between 50 and 60%.

Cracking repping!

Dont underestimate what a couple high rep deadlift sets will do to the feel of your squats .

But yes those are not speed squats at all. Speed work is between 50 and 60%.

Thanks mate. Deads have come a long way since I started this journal. That's a fair point on the squats actually - must be some fatigue carryover from deads.

Cheers pal. Yep lots of strange looks as was quite a 'heated' meeting and I had already lost my temper once and then kept jumping in/out my chair with cramp!

Started off very strong today - not sure if reps need to be slowed down on bench, vids below for review. Feeling strong on bench which is good as still consider it my weakest lift. Floor press dropped weight to start and was easy so moved forward each set gradually and glad to hit all required 8 reps. Tricep extension moved weight slightly forward but following pressdown lost 3 reps per set. Triceps give and triceps take away! OH press 30 seems to be a good weight so keep this again next week and want to nail 12 reps last set.

Nice work mate.  I realise that's the point but I would find it hard no use leg drive on the floor press, looks like a tough lift.

Cheers mate. I don't think I get much leg drive when benching (or as much as I should) so find it easily to isolate and just focus on pressing.

Thanks pal. No elbows are flush with floor and were making contact with floor or each rep - no rack/obstacles in way. May of been the angle of the camera.

Apologies for lack of journal input lads - been a manic week work and at home Working out a remortgage while wife is sorting her days/hours back to work, budgeting for this and nursey and a little one dealing with teething/broken sleep. All fun though as she is standing now on her own so soon walking carnage will commence.Will catch up soon as I can on your journals.

1st set of squats felt easy. 2nd squats was a battle. Decided on a diff camera angle as wanted to check my knee's - not a good picture lots of valgus. 1st set felt I was pushing more off of my left leg. Not panicking as may be isolated incident but will film next squats same angle and see how they are. Again trying to focus on leg drive rather then back drive although back did take over on last couple reps - normally will focus on pushing knee's out when repping so could of been due to this. Next week will paint a clearer picture. But welcome comments/thoughts if set up/feet positioning could be tweaked...
 
Deads felt great (as they always do) definitely harder as weight moved forwards but good enough speed I think and room for improvement - filmed the last set so you can see fatigued speed. Leg press was brutal but there is room to up weight next week. Same for pulldowns - these were too easy so need heavier next week - the repos were good full reps to chest but I will start on 40 next week. Leg ext were horrible/fun due to burn.

Some quality work going on in here mate. Nice to see you're loving deads again, what a difference breaking that 200kg has done!
