Going back to the squats for a minute. I think we are all in agreement that drastic changes this close to comp are a bad idea. However, there's plenty of merit on concentrating on flexibility which should have the positive effect on depth.
Incorporate some hamstring and hip stretches each night for a couple of minutes could do the trick.

I looked up some simple stretches and moves which have really helped loosen me up when beginning a long ride.

Might just be enough for those final couple of inches.

What about box squats with lighter weight to ensure you are hitting that depth? Train that brain!

You're making great progress atm with your bench, with some strong results!

Shame about the uncertainty with your squat depth though, I agree with DV though, sack the leg press variations off, they are not needed. You need to be squatting more often to drill that depth in. Do you front squat at all? I find that I can go much lower with front squats, which may have some depth carryover.

Bench is flying mate...big PB coming...component work paying off :) Might not be on here much next week bud, any issues message as usual ok bud :)

Hope so mate feel stupid strong on bench at the moment

Nails1981
Nice bench work mate, loads of good reps getting done. Definitely a PB coming.

Don't sweat the squat mate, keep working away at it and you'll conquer it. You've got the right attitude and that's what counts, just need time and practice and you're golden.

Cheers mate im giving it my everything on this plan so hope it pays off come comp day.
Its frustrating as im putting pressure on myself to do well but still 1st comp and will enjoy the day/process and then in time squat will get better.

Im doing that now - averaging about 45 mins a night on rolling and stretching so hopefully bit by bit will make a difference.
Just need to focus on lower weights bang in depth - I keep trying slightly higher weights that are coimfy to lift but depth is filing so need to be strict and take ego out and focus on depth.

No squat variations at moment - just focusing on squats with low weight - after comp (17th march) complete breakdown and re0build of squat and any assistance work needed will be incorporated.

Cheer smate - need to keep up with you or you will blow me away in our 'secret comp'.

I suppose that's the big difference between a gym squat and platform squat - I could of worked to a 180 and squatted it but clearly the depth would not be there and that's what I need for comp. Ego is bruised form this but all a laearning curve and working my arse off to improve. No mate - just what I log. Im following Ox' plan to the letter and only varying when he calls for it - no point using a coach and then going rogue and changing it. I appreciate all the tips/advice here but just have to focus on ox's direction.

Yesterdays sesh...

Deadlifts
20 x 8
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 3
180 x 2
195 x 2
195 x 1

Squats
20 x 10
60 x 10
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5

Bad day all round. Deadlifts just lost my head and didn't have the fight for the tough reps, lacking leg drive as well. Was put off at the start as bar was rolling on floor unless I aligned it with gap between floor tiles - you can see 1st rep bar sway. It put me off and just didn't have fight for the other reps. Should of been hitting 2 sets of 3. Easy to blame bar, tight back etc but just a bad day in the gym, stewed on this for hours yest then shook myself out of it - chalk it up and mover on as don't want to dwell on this and will move on -  Spoke to Ox and plan is to work up to 1 set of 3 on Thursday instead of banded deads.

Also - dropping assistance work on squats/deads now and working on box jumps squat day & broad jumps deadlift day. Get some explosiveness back!

Anyways on positive note - squat depth looks better. As per DV's request front view of squats,...

Dead 1

Dead 2

Squat

Bench shortly and will catch up with journals later on.

Typos?
Squats say 100 x 3 but I count 5 in the vid. Also both deadlift vids were doubles, not a double and single like it says in the log.

Depth much better there though.

Corrected mate! Yep depth better but its not comfortable by any stretch - they felt too low and video shows on depth so need to drill the 'feeling of depth in

Woke up today with a pinch on upper back. Getting fed up of all the aches/niggles but part and parcel of training.

Coffe & MTFU and onwards with Bench...

BW - 87.9kg

Bench
20 x 8
40 x 5
60 x 3
80 x 2
97.5 x 3
97.5 x 3

Floor press
85 x 8
90 x 8
92.5 x 8

Cable Rope Pressdown/Split
23.75 x 15
23.75 x 15
23.75 x 15

Cable Tri Ext
18.75 x 15
18.75 x 15
18.75 x 15

Barbell O/H Press
30 x 12
30 x 12
30 x 10

DB Front Raise - Dual arm
8 x 10
8 x 10
8 x 10

Much better today - ignored yesterdays sessions and niggles, music loud and focused on lifts. Bench moved very well, I would say 2nd set was the better of the 2 but potential for an extra rep each set I think. No niggles when lifting and felt beastly strong (well for me anyway) when lifting. Maybe it was the power of the vest? Pause I think could be a tad longer but happy with that today. I think my set up has improved now as well. Floor press still feeling strong so worked up weights and 92.5 is PB weight/reps so again progress.
Fun accessory stuff to finish off and usual feeling of pumped arms like crazy.

May move tomorrow nights rolling/stretching to tomorrow during day as a rest day from weights so free's the evening up more.

Bench 1st set

Bench 2nd set

Floor press - 92.5

I think your back tightness from last week could be partly why you had that bar sway on your DL, slightest bit of uneven-ness with such a large pendulum will look like that IMO.

Bet your camera dude felt like a right voyeur filming those squats, good depth there. Ideally would like to those knees staying out on the decent but it's not a horrendous drift

Def could of played a part. Its something im just having to manage for the moment but that could of been a factor for the missed lifts. Mentally just wasn't a day for it as didnt fight the reps.

He was loving it TBH - crawling around the floor with camera. Im convincd it was just for an up shorts shot

Bonus gym session today...

Monday I missed 3 reps of 195 over 2 sets. I had planned to deadlift heavy tomorrow after squats to get these reps back, but felt really good today and didn't want to delay anymore as would of spent all day thinking on it. Also - allows for extra recovery before heavy deads again Monday. Appreciate was a risky move as potential to of failed reps - BUT I was determined, pumped and ready. The whole session was put aside for deads with as long rest as needed although max was about 4 mins between 180-195 lifts. Extra lumbar stretching before and in between reps as well to give me the best possible chance.

Deadlift
20 x 8
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 3
180 x 2
*Belt on*
195 x 3

Widegrip Pulldown
54 x 15
54 x 15
54 x 15

30ish mins lower lumbar & hamstring stretching

No video as just focused on repping rather then filming and wanted music to get the hype up (thank you machinehead). 1st rep was almost a pause an inch off the floor as just no leg drive but slowly rep come up. 2nd & 3rd reps much better and leg drive was there much better - could of been a confidence thing hitting that 1st rep and then reps after were easier and more natural. Feel back on track with deads now hit them and looking forward to next weeks sesh. Moved pulldown to today as squat day tomorrow and want to give as much time to squats/depth work as possible.

Will still do some rolling and stretching tonight to keep hammering that home.

Tweaks and niggles around my neck, shoulders and upper back are just normal for me now. Foam roller and tennis ball work wonders but the only thing that I think would get rid of them altogether is to just stop lifting. Its just part of the sport.

Good news on getting the deadlifts back in. I like the fact that your also not bothering with a spotter at all on your bench press anymore since the PT's have all been useless in the past lol.
