I hate 'active recovery days'. Just boring and although beneficial and helpful feel like ive wasted a session. Back on the iron tomorrow thank god

Yoga - 19 mins

Glutes bridges - 4 sets 20 secs holding

10-15 mins stretching - mainly hips/legs

CANNOT wait for deadlift tomorrow. Back on 5x5 although will pull weight back slightly and work up again - last 5x5 was 152.5x5 on 14/10/17 and would not be smart to attempt that again or push weight forward. 145 5x5 im thinking

Keep on training...

Was visited by the DOMS fairy and all her mates last night - feel like I was assaulted in my sleep.

Deads will be interesting later.

Lunge DOMs are the worst lol. Unilateral training is effective though

Back on the deadlift train....

Deadlift
20 x 10
60 x 8
100 x 5
120 x 1
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
160 x 1

5x5's were tough actually - but haven't trained them in 3 weeks roughly. But got them done. Wanted to pull something heavy so done the 160 just to satisfy the ego - it actually felt like my best rep of the day, slowish off the floor but once at shins it flew up. Vid's below for 2nd & 3rd set - form comments please. Looking at it I think my bum is still coming up to quick compared to back...

Bent over rows
60 x 8
60 x 8
60 x 8
60 x 8

Kept weight low as felt tired by this point and wanted to work on slow reps

Band assisted pull ups (wide grip)
4 sets of 8 reps

Back is finished at this point and bi's burning

EZ Bicep curls
17.5 x 10
27.5 x 10
37.5 x 10
47.5 x 2

47.5 just to heavy - by 2nd rep was using my back for momentum so stopped there as cheating

Cable Rope hammer curls
16.25 x 10
21.25 x 10
26.25 x 10
26.25 x 8

Done. No energy left.

5 mins hips/leg stretching as their still tender.

2nd set deads

3rd set deads

Will do next 3x3 bench Monday and then its a few days off as going Peak District with the wife and dog for my 30th, rented a cottage next to a pub so diet will likely go out the window.

You say 5x5s were tough... I only see 4 sets written down. Looked good tho.

No sh!t your EZ curls were a bit heavy, a little over 10kg lighter than you were bent over rowing with..!!!

Was a moment of bro weakness with the curls!

Nice one bud. Get into the 5x5!

I'll leave the deads critique for people that actually do them lol. Does seem that arse is going up first though.

on the deads looks like your shoulders are behind the bar... I would put them over the bar more and the butt is rising first... push the hips back a little and get the shoulders over more and that should move the shins back to more upright... then its about extending the knees first with quad drive and then humping the bar with the hips...

Back from a lovely week away in the peak district. Good 3 hours hiking everyday - amazing the glute burn i was getting on uphill steps.

I have lived off nothing but rubbish for this week - guinness, ale, lager, scotch (lots of it), indian, chinese, fish ‘n’ chips, pizza, massive roast dinner, crisps, biscuits etc You get the picture. Basically no fit state for training - wont be training until next monday as back to work and lots to catch up on, house extension, baby shopping/sorting and another 30th party sat which will be a scotch soaked night.

Roll on monday but not welcoming the doms to come!

Will catch up on all the journals etc in the week.

Keep on training...

Peak District is lovely, we’ve got friends up there so try to get up when we can (long drive with two small kids though!)

Little village called combs near Chapel-le-frith. Really nice part of the world.

The scenery and tranquillity - especially compared to me working down London was bliss and the dog loved the long walks.

Come back so bloated from all the booze, caffeine and crap food and lack of water. I look as bloated as the wife who is approaching 20 weeks! haha All worth it though as was a real good time away.

Good job only a week away so be easy enough after a few weeks tops with cleaner diet to get back on top of things
