Still rough but slightly better today - good walk with dog this morn was good to blow the cobwebs away but energy lacking.

Missed the boat on training today - planned for 4 o’clock session got to gym 10 to 4 and they told me shutting at 4 as ‘xmas hours’. Just a normal day to me I thought but pain even if was only gunna be a light sesh.

Plan B was use the home gym which havent dusted out for a while. In a corner of shed gone to get it and shed floor and my weights are covered in rat sh*t ffs. Would of needed a proper clean and in the dark so left and treating today as another rest day

Agree with this mate. Training whilst ill might sound hardcore but in the end you'll always end up more fatigued.
 
Can't wait for this comp build-up, very exciting!!!!

Might as well do. Feel heroic with bags all up my arms walking to car



I feel like I've failed a man if I can't do all the bags in one go lol.

Trained today at a proper powerlifting gym - competition eleiko plates, proper knurling on bar, chalk stand, squat stand. Was in gym heaven - its between stock/ingatestone for all you essex people. Ill prob be vack there this sat to train bench. Owner is a BDFPA record holder and qualified ref so good to have a chat with him about what to expect at comp etc Am planning on going to a competition end of Jan to spectate and get used to the format/whats going on etc

Today 1st day of 11 week peaking plan...

Left it there today as was running out of time to fit assistance work in as was stop/start session with chatting. Next week will be full on accessories. Squat will be 135 next week - was re-feeling the weight this week and also getting used to balance when unracking with no mirror in front of me when squatting. Good learning curve. Deads/rows moved well and good to get them properly under belt - hands can feel proper knurling but all good.

Will catch up on journals later.

Def get used to not lifting in front of a mirror IMO


Yes will be squatting away from mirror now in normal gym. Means will have to back up the weights when re-racking but important to lose the mirror aspect

Indeed mate - best person to guide me through first comp and programming. Oxtalk could be the new sub forum!
 
Will be important for me doing this now as no mirror on compo day so need to mimic comp standards for every rep now. Yes much better thanks and happy new year to you as well!

Cheers mate will def help and really friendluy guy. Can realistically get there max once per week but that once per week will be invaluable for me training with like minded people and proper equipment

To say i'm motivated at the moment is an understatement - booze and diet have tightened up massively over xmas/new year. Diet was good but is better, booze was getting less now I cant finish a bottle of beer NY eve just didn't fancy it. No doubt after this programme I may have a blowout but no interest now in sh*t food/booze and hope that will continue as feeling the benefits already.
 
BW today - 87kg. Weight held lovely over festive period, self control on food/booze helped this.
 
Walked into gym feeling like Balboa in Rocky 4 training montage, left feeling like Stone Cold Steve Austin after giving an ass whooping!
 
*All sets after bench rest is 60/90 secs due to time constraints in gym*

Run out of time for DB front raises but good work done. Am working out weights for the BB work and this will get more dialled in with time. 1st bench set I think was too fast and no real pause on chest, slowed down 2nd set and better, no wraps yet on wrists for bench, will bring on in next week or 2. Floor press once on 80 was tough and failed on 5th rep. Will get stronger on these in time. Open to form suggestions if something obviously wrong there. Tricep Extension was a fun movement - few different variations but went for standing DB (Ox correct me if you would rather I perform a diff tricep ext). rest of sesh really pushing triceps to the point skin never felt so tight - insane pump.

Looking good mate, triceps overload!  Even better news about the diet.  I don't know about you but I find the Xmas blowout very motivating.  It makes me feel awful and thus I want eat better and take better care of myself.

Happy with the tricep work mate that's fine. With floor press i'd prefer you to go straight leg and you don't need to pause quite as long as you are doing, just a controlled pause then go again. Make sure upper back is tight and set up similar to bench so you are just as tight and under control. Its a tough movement and don't forget you were already fatigued from bench so don't sweat it too much..it will do a job still :)

Yeh massive overload! Normally i blow out completely over xmas but no interest this year so better place to hit hard on.

Ok nice one will keep those for a while - was double handed so really workong both tri’a together. Cool will change floor press on next weeks session taking above points on board.
I have no doubt a bench PB is there - will be a good build up to it in next few weeks.

Good to hear your motivation is high. It certainly goes along way, even more so at the bottom of a squat!
