USA DEALS

Jimmy Mizen

What on earth is happening to our society..I watched this on the news last night, and my heart went out to his parents. I never bring stuff like this to the forum for fear of It going politically wrong and what have you, but this really got to me. Something needs to be done regarding sentencing of crimes. I have a 14 year old son who I totally worship..I can't even begin to grasp how this lads parents feel.

Some may argue that crime is actually falling, compared to what has gone before. Online media coverage has increased our perception on the level of crime in today's society, but I just cannot come to terms with the mindless violence that our youngsters have to deal with on the streets today. It was never at this level 20 years ago in my youth. Is this something like 13 youth related murders in London alone this year ? God only knows what the national figure is...

My heart goes out to this poor lads family. I only hope his killer is caught, and is punished accordingly.

imo a lot of people who have commited these crimes recently are teenagers and get 'life' often with a minimum of 14,15,17 years etc. so they may only be late 20's or 30 when they get out, it's hardly life and hardly a deterrant

I hear what your saying buddy, this country is getting beyond a joke, this young lad was going to work only to be murdered when he got there. I watched his mother this morning on GMTV saying that she felt sorry for the family of the person who did this to Jimmy, I had tears in my eyes when she was saying this, after all she'd been through the last few days all she could think about was the parents of the person who killed Jimmy.

someone on radio2 yesterday said "what's the betting the attacker is a known criminal who is already on atag, or curfew, or probation etc. who may even be on bail" and I would agree
