Just about to start lo carb diet for fat loss. a few fat Qs

Ive tried this many times but at the time was eating far too many carbs and the switch was dramatic. Over the last 6 months I have reduced carb intake to oats at breakfast and wholegrain pasta/rice (small portion) for tea. So im hoping the switch this time should be eaiser.

I will be eating carbs as I do alot of cardio training but these will be limited to prior to workouts. I will injest around 60g of wholegrain carbs most likely in the form of oats in water.

Jeez, isnt protein easy when working out a diet. Eat 1 g of chicken/tuna/beef/whey per 1lb of bodyweight.

Fat seems a bit more tricky. A few Q's.

1 - Is butter a bad way to get fat? I always find the butter marg debate confusing. Am I ok to get alot of cals from butter?
2 - Is flax oil still a good way to get fat? Just checking as ive heard someone mention it promotes female hormones. This could be total bollox though. Is Flax oil a good way to get alot of cals from fat?
3 - What about cheese, IE a block of as opposed to slices and triangles. Is this ok?

1 - There are better ways to get your fat intake.

2 - Flax is fine, yes.

3 - Cheese is ok, although watch out for saturated fats within the cheese.

Thanks gaz. To querie your answers further.

On a rate of one to ten how good is butter / flax / cheese

Thing is with butter I find it so tastey. Ie get a chicken breast and some veg and I hate it. Add a big blob of butter and its great.

To be honest mate, using butter for fat intake isn't something i would ever think about doing.

    Plenty of better alternatvies.

Foods to eat for omega 3 content -

Flax seeds, flax oil, walnuts, salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, anchovies, pilchards.

Foods to eat for omega 6 content -

Walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, almonds, rape seed, soybeans, olive oil, grapeseed oil, pine nuts, pistachio nuts, borage oil, chestnut oil.

Foods to eat for omega 9 content -

Canola oil, sunflower oil, olives, avocados, almonds, peanuts, sesame oil, pecans, pistachio nuts, cashews, hazlenuts, macadamia nuts.

Im not doubting your info Gaz. But how do all these on the Atkins diet who eat nothing but burgers, butter and cheese manage to drop stone's? There fat choices are horrendous.

From previous research I was left thinking FLax oil for Omega 3. And that Omega 6 was already in abundance in a typical diet. Is this right?

Jeez, why cant you just buy one 'fat' drink with all the stuff in you need??

    lol, you can

Yes, butter is fine for cooking, flax taken cold, kept in fridge, etc. Just aim to balance omega 3 & 6 to about 1:1 total, with a 1:1:1 poly:mono:sat and you'll be laughing.

If you are going very high fat, you can increase the monos & sats for energy use, provided the polys are taken care of in decent amounts.

I'm eating quite a lot of butter at the minute, but also a fair chunk of Udos. Between the two I'm coming out slightly slanted to the monos and sats, but my fat intake is over 60% cals at the minute, so I know the polys I'm getting are sufficient.

oh, forgot to add - the fat choices you outlined aren't horrific in Atkins, they just tend not to provide anything essential, doesn't make them bad per se.
