Kids playing on the green. How times have changed!!

With the longer evenings and fine weather, the kids are back out playing on the green in my estate.

Last week I was coming home, and as usual there was some kind of game going on, boys and girls about 6 to 10 years old. I was unloading the car and heard the following:

"You're out"
"I'm Not"
"You Are, she got there before you"
"No she didn't, I was there first. I'm not out ya f*cking b*llox"
Then the first kid (Aged about 8), whips out an i-phone, and all I hear is "Mam, Brian's using bad language"

Then "Mam said you're to go home"

I was in knots, I mean imagine back 20 odd years ago, we were lucky to have a bike, never mind an i-phone!!!! Just thought it was a funny thing to see, an 8 yr old ratting out his brother with an i-phone!!

Lets start buildin' some hurtin' bombs

It wasn't the language it was the fact that an 8 yr old had an i-phone and was using it to tell tales!!!!

I phone downstairs from my iphone to get my mum to bring me up a cuppa. :)

Anywho, I think the earlier kids are introduced to technology the better. Technology exists everywhere now, so we can't live in the past - embrace it.

The kids around here spend their summer evenings trying to blow padlocks off shutter doors so they can rob the place. And this is out in the open by a busy main road. No shame, no fear. Wee ****es!

OP your post brought a smile to my face as it just reminded me about my kids out playing and enjoying life like kid's should and this quote above reminded me why im so happy to be not bringing my kids up in belfast as i can relate to this carryon from westbelfastguy, where im from at 9-10 they are starting to take drugs already and are a real menass to the area, there was an incedent recently that there were a few 9-10 year old caught up an entry doing a sexual act while a few others were watching, MADNESS at the highest order if you ask me but thank fcuk i live on the west coast of ireland now where none of this carryon is happening as i wouldnt know how to deal with this sh1t if my kid was involved.

Wait untill they hit they're late teen's, mayhem. One thing about belfast is that there isnt much of a heroin problem or gun culture but as soon as they hit the place then it's fcuked because the kid's of today would'nt think twice about killing someone for nothing.

well with younger kids it's fearlessness as they know that anyone who tries discilplining or stopping them will get done for it so they think they're untouchable
