Kittys Komeback!

Well guys, I promised I would do it so I'm going to make a start. I finally put my piccie on last night for those who haven't seen it. OK it's from the 80's when Figure wasn't as muscular as it seems to be now. I have more to post when I get them back.....not going to put up a recent one just yet...read on to see why

Sorry to repeat myself for those who have read my previous postings but my aim if for the Nabba North West next May. I have 2 stone to lose and a lot of size to put on[xx(] but I'm gonna give my best shot. I am 37 and it is 12 years since I last competed. My last comp was the Nabba Britain finals in Blackpool....can't remember the year. I didn't place but it felt good to be in a line up of 21!!

I have just started a YMCA Personal Training course which I go to on Monday and Tuesday. Those days are a little strange in that sometimes we go into the gym for a 'general workout' and others for 'tuition'. I therefore try and fit in whatever I can. Today we are supposed to be doing 1RM!! Can't wait for that. However, I have been ill over the weekend so I hope it doesn't take its toll. Being ill also meant I missed training my chest, shoulders and triceps which I normally do with my husband. He pushes me hard and I feel like my pecs have outshot my boobs [:p]. If we have the chance today, I will catch up.

I have not much time to post my routine and diet now but will come back later and confess!![:p]

nice pic look excellent, won't comment about the hair as it was the 80's (such a bad decade for style!!) Your right the look is much more muscular these days, will be interested to keep track of your progress!

Good luck kitty, I'm sure it will all come back to you, you know how to do it!

Re: the personal trainer course, I'd be interested to know how you get on with that and how much income you ultimately expect from it.

Right guys, I feel well motivated now with all the great comments, Thanks. Apart from one about the 80's hairdo which was regarding my short crop......please note, my hair is in that style to date!![:I]

Anyway, I have now posted up some more photos as I got them back today. The running order in term of competing are 1) secondary North West (which I won ), 2) Pennines (local comp used to be held in Colne, now in Oswaldtwistle I believe) 3)United Kingdom and 4) North West Britain (this is when I qualified for the Britain having been placed fourth).

Right, now that's over with. I shall start my journal. I am open to criticism so please say your piece where you feel I need to change/improve. My diet is not perfect at the mo and I need to really focus on that. It's also difficult whilst at college but I am trying. I was proud of myself yesterday though when my husband decided he wanted a KFC and I resisted, even went in the shop with him and thought YUK. Never been known before.[:p]

I have been relatively wheat and dairy free due to a therapeutic diet I have been on. This seems to have worked quite well for my intention to date. However, I am going to start eating cottage cheese again for a different protein source (easy to put in a tub and take to college) and some wheat. I have also recently sampled soya milk and must be the only person on this earth that likes it. I have even reduced the amount of supplements I have been taking and any that seem strange now are only because I am using up my stock!

    Todays Journal

7.15 am : 2 weetabix with soya milk
    took dog for a walk
8.15 am : 2 eggs, cup redbush tea with 5g creatine (have started on the loading as advised in James article, now on day 6)

    10.00 am : 150g cottage cheese

12.00pm : 100g chicken, roast veg, potatoes, 2 dessertspoons of flax oil

    2.00pm : 1RM exercise at college gym

    3.30pm : 150g cottage cheese

    4.30pm : Training

    chest

    incline dumbell presses, 12kg [12], 14kg [10], 14kg [10],
    incline flies (9kg [15], 10kg [10], 10kg {8},
    cable cross overs, 25kg [12], 30kg [10], 35kg [6]

    Shoulders

    hammer strength shoulder presses 20kg [12], 25kg {8}, 25kg [8],
    upright rowing on smith m/c 10kg [12], 12.5kg [10], 12.5kg [10],
dumbell raises (8 to side, 8 bent over and 8 to front as a triset) 5kgs, 3 sets

    Triceps
Dips between benches, [12], with 10kg on thighs [10], with 15kgs on thighs {8},
    rope pulldowns 4 plates (I think 40 kgs but it seems a lot for me!!) [10], 5 plates {8} 6 plates {8},
    rope pullovers 6 plates [12], 7 plates [10], 7 plates +5kg [10]

10 mins on cross trainer level 9
    10 minutes stepper level 10
    5 minutes walk on treadmill

Felt great and had to make myself leave the gym (oh dear, did I not train hard enough[}:)]?)

Post training : 1 heaped tsp glutamine

7.15 pm 100g chicken, 3 slices brown bread (this is bad but I couldn't be bothered to cook anything)

Supplements: chromium picolinate, zinc picolinate, CLA, EPO
Constant sips of unsweetened cranberry water throughout the day, total fluid over 2 litres

Monday is normally a rest day but having been ill over w/end, I wanted to catch up, I also normally train during the day, so late afternoon training is out of the ordinary too! Must say though, it's a good time to train as there are some nice bods to have a gawk at rather than the housewives and pensioners that train in the daytime!![:I][8)] TUT TUT

I have an official weigh in on Thursday as I go to a Slimming World Class (sorry guys, I can hear you laughing now!![:0] but that helped me lose my 2.5 stone, I've made some nice friends there now so I keep going to see them all and it's good as they still encourage me, nothing like motivation from fellow slimmers!). As of last week I was 9st 2.5. I need to get serious with the weight loss as I am being filmed on holiday for ITV1 (Fly out on 10th November) and they say that TV makes you look bigger[V]

My 1RMs for dg were :

54kg bench press (I normally do incline so thought this was low)
    151kg leg press
    32kg shoulder press
    54kg lat pulldown
    51kg leg curl

Pusha, I used to take whey but recently ran out. I can only buy it locally at £5 for 300g!!![V] I was waiting until a better financial position and was goign to buy the bulk quantity from Whey Consortium but now I've read they do smaller quatities so I can afford to buy sooner (Cheers guys!)..will be placing an order in next couple of days!

The only dairy derived protein I am having at the mo is cottage cheese (eggs are dairy!)

I was not planning on training yesterday and had already had my creatine....am I not wasting money taking even more?

Will take note of your comments on m/cs and using flat bench for chest!

    Thanks a lot, much appreciated

Well today has been completely mixed up! I was managing quite well until we were sent on an early lunch and a short one at that which did not give me time to buy some salad (not well prepared yesterday) to have with the sardines I had taken to college. By the time I got back to college I had no time to eat it as we were going straight into the gym...I tried to eat some of the sardines but they were dry. We did about 1.5 hours of light to moderate aerobic work as a group in the sports hall. I then managed to eat only some of the salad and sardines as my appetite was completely gone. I forced some down but not enough. This was over four hours off my last meal too!

Home from college and I still had no appetite so I managed 150g of cottage cheese. I then rushed out to evening class (Italian lessons...what a busy life I lead). I now still feel no appetite but will force some more cottage cheese down my neck or maybe some scrambled eggs...I suppose this is one good reason to get that whey powder so I can at least get the protein in me if this happens again.

I was really sore this morning after last nights workout but that has subsided now. It was really painful when I turned over in bed LOL.

Planning to do back and biceps tomorrow with about an hour CV work. Will probably include some HIIT in that too!

Thanks Pusha, was hoping someone would tell me if I was going to be doing it wrong, that's why I posted what I was planning. I would probably feel too knackered when I did it anyway....would it be overkill if I just did normal cardio? I really need to shift bf at the mo!

Cheers Pusha, I was in bed until the bloody cat woke me up to go out! I couldn't get back to sleep so had a quick look on here!

In response to your previous comment about personal trainers, I must say I do agree. I am doing the course so that I can give my clients a workout alongside their dietary prescriptions. My clients are mainly ladies over 45 with some form of illness and they also want to lose weight. Knowing that being in a healthier range of weight makes you feel better and makes you more positive I'm sure they can only benefit. I am not particularly looking to work in a gym as I think the wages are sh1te. Considering in my last job I was earning equivalent of £16 per hour, I ain't going to work for a quarter of that 3 years later!!. I would rather earn less working for myself.

Thanks once again, I find your support particularly valuable!

Well, I'm going to have to get into a routine to update this everyday!!

The diet has been pretty hard, for some reason I have no appetite whatsoever and have been forcing myself to eat to the extent that I feel sick. I am not even being tempted by any form of junk food! I had family round last night and they all sat there drinking copious amounts of wine and I had a cup of redbush tea! My husband thought I was ill! At my official weigh in on Thursday, I had put 0.5lb on but that did not bother me in the slightest as I feel thinner and my clothes are more loose....good sign! I measure myself every Friday morning and I am losing some size (as in fat!) I must buy some calipers and do it properly.

I bought some Xenadrine (H&B version which is currently half price). Within 40 minutes of taking it my blood sugar was all over the place and I was sweating and shaking!! I have not touched caffeine based products for over 3 years so it really affected me. And yes, cleverdick me didn't take the half dose as recommended on the pack to assess my reaction. Later in the day I trained my legs and was nearly passing out between each set! I took my time and ended up in the gym for over an hour just doing legs..hey but they look good for it this morning![:p] Can't wait to lose more weight to see what they look like a little more uncovered! LOL

I may also have been affected more with the tablets yesterday as I had the innoculations for my up coming ITV holiday! (Typhoid, Tetanus & Diptheria and Polio): 5 weeks to go.[:p]

    Summing up the week,

    Tuesday : cardio
Wednesday : back and biceps, 30 mins cardio
    Thursday : cardio
    Friday : legs
    Saturday: chest, shoulders, triceps
Tomorrow : rest (BOOOO!! I'm really into it at the mo and hate resting but know it is necessary)

Have been taking creatine and now have some maltodextrin to take it with, I think I can tell the difference!! Glutamine per and post workout, CLA, flax oil and chromium picolinate.

Even though I still have an excess of body fat I can tell the muscle is developing much better this week. Even my husband can tell the difference and my family were astounded last night

    Boy am I feeling positive![:p]

Well I've had a good rest today. My back is sore [B)]from doing dumbell shoulder presses yesterday. Good excuse to have my hubbie rub some arnica gel in for me[:p].

Last night I was tempted by just one small G&T and a binge meal of a nice healthy chicken kebab. Normally we have a take away too on Sunday but not today, I had a nice spicy chicken salad for dinner and feel wonderful for being soooooooooo good!

Hubbie has now left for Birmingham (works away) so I think I may retire soon and have a nice early night.....stop me wanting to eat through boredom also!

Hi Pusha, you didn't turn up! (Bloody cat's got me up again!)

Yes I have done HIIT but not this week as I either was feeling a little sore from previous training or it was combined with my weight session (you advised me that would be overkill.... I do listen you know!). If I do cardio when I've done weights, it ranges between 20-40 mins (usually 40). When alone I do one hour. I am not a big fan of normal cardio so I always mix it to stop me getting bored. I'll do power walking/jogging/stepper/cross trainer/cycling/rowing m/c. For an hour I may choose 3 or 4 pieces depending on my mood! For HIIT, I stopped using the treadmill as advised on here and now use the rower and the bike. We also have a proper stair climber at the gym, I had a go 2 weeks ago and only lasted 4 mins...however, considering no one uses it because it is that hard work, I thought that was damned good[:p].

Right back to bed....hope you kept it warm for me[|)]

Hey, just noticed I am now a Universe member!![:p] Must be spending too long on here.

Good day at college today but not much time in gym to do a good workout so I went to the gym at 5.30pm. My back feels ok today so I was able to back and biceps. Diet as been good but still having to force myself to eat[V], I shouldn't complain because I'm normally a greedy sod![:I]

Pusha, appreciate what you are saying about the cardio but it's getting into the habit and the routine within the week. I shall review my routine and see what I can do. Not much protein on my cat, he's a skinny git and his brother has been on the run since last Monday so he's not eating at the mo!

Good day on diet although still struggling with quantity. Was hoping the Whey would arrive today as this will help me reduce the bulk. I have only being having cottage cheese for 2 weeks and already I am sick of it[xx(]. The good thing is, is that now that I have introduced dairy back into my diet it does not seem to have brought my excema back, perhaps my therapy treatment worked.

Didn't get chance to do any cardio at college either as we got kicked out of the gym for another class. Didn't fancy going after either as I am bloody knackered. Had about 3 hours kip last night. However, going to have a good session tomorrow.

The bad news is that hubbie has just been made redundant and the good news is, is that means he will be living back at home 24/7 and can train with me[:p]. Looking forward to some good workouts now. He's also looking forward to getting into shape for our holiday....[:p]

(Sorry Pusha, will have to cancel our evening rendezvous chez moi[:I][:X])

I think he is a very marketable chappie so yes he should get something pretty quick. What pees me off about this one is he has only been there 10 mths and the banks made the CEO take him on to help turn the business round which was losing £3M, in the first 6 mths this year they made a £1.1M profit which was due to systems my hubbie put in. The company was in a position where the guy could sell it and that happened this w/end. He thanked all the other Directors apart from my husband but also made a public apology to the Director he had to push to one side to bring hubbie in! Makes my blood boil. Anyway I have suggested he sets up on his own and makes the money for himself for a change. HE'S SH1T HOT AT CVS, IF ANYONE WANTS ONE DOING....(FOR A COST OF COURSE!![:p])

Well started to get into a new routine last night now that I can train with hubbie again, so I did legs. This is two days sooner than I would have done but I was fine. Hubbie spotted me TRYING to do normal squats instead of on the smith m/c (been advised on here not to do them). What a bloody mess I was. It was so wierd, I felt off balance and was not confident to put enough weight on to feel like I was working hard enough, so I went and blasted them on the leg press. When I used to squat before we always used a block under the heels so I think this is why it felt wierd.

Was a good day on the diet although still no appetite[xx(].

Off to do some cardio now...not managed any for the last week

Well, it's so long since I last updated this...so much for getting into the habit! It's been a sh1t 2 weeks. Been ill again with another cold, been upset coz one of my cats was run over and hubbie lost his job (the latter doesn't worry me as I know he will get another quick...in fact he starts next week as a consultant working for himself!, already got a contract for 2 days a week that will pay him almost what he was on full time!)Its great having him home as he is really pushing me at the gym and is getting in brill shape himself....boy, I wish he would compete, he is one of the gifted IMO that can bulk naturally

Anyway, started back properly yesterday at the gym after a week off. Yesterday was back and biceps and today was legs...finally managed the squats[:p]. I know the weight I was using was not heavy enough but it was a good starting point today. I got upto 65kg for 10 reps. They felt relatively easy but I could feel the front of my thighs tightening up. Stretched off well and they feel ok at the mo. Next week I'm going to start on that weight and see how it goes. (Ta for the telling off Pusha! I was thinking about you having a go at me whilst I was doing them[B)])

The good news is, is that my whey powder finally arrived from Whey Consortium so I can start properly on that now. Tastes quite nice actually (unflavoured). My diet could have been better over the last two weeks, I have had enough protein but too much crap at weekend and not enough veg or good carb sources. I have just under 3 weeks to go until my hols so I am going to up the cardio as that too has been slack for about 3 weeks now. I'm going to start running in a morning as I live near some lovely countryside and it is so nice being out when it is crisp with frost on the grass but the sun is rising....love it...all that 'fresh' air!

Right of to go and cuddle up to my ever growing hubbie!![}:)][:p]
