I've done the same pal, its a load of mega poop. Well I have had 3 ops in one year now at 21, not fun. Just sack off any exercise until the swelling goes down considerably, then onto the bike making sure the saddle is up enough not to compress the knee, then when that is comfortable the x trainer. I found swimming actually hurt me more when i was kicking etc.
I used the arm rowers to stop my weight going up, its just a cardio machine but you use your arms basically!most gyms have them!
