i find it has more benefit while dieting than bulking, as when you are bulking your recovery isnt as compromised.

we can be here all day arguing over the effectiveness of l-glutamine-i personally do not notice any effects from it at 5g-have to bump it upto at least 7g in my PW shake, it does help my recovery

Ive just ordered some myself to add to my post workout shake which I will start taking within the next couple weeks. This will be a whey protein concentrate, I thought it might be beneficial to add this as I'm seriously trying to gain muscle mass and was under the impression that this would help stop any breakdown of muscle PWO?

To prevent muscle breakdown it should be taken before your workout-around 30 mins before

i think that any type of protein will do the same job before bed TBH. Also milk is high in glutamine so if you cant get hold of glutamine then you can always drink milk before bed

You would need to consume ALOT (too much) of protein\milk to get anywhere near the required amounts of L-Glutamine.

don't go for the free form L-glutamine, get one of the more advanced bonded glutamines.

If someone comes up with the glutamine ethyl ester that was discussed a while back, it may make glutamine more interesting, but until then it is £40/month i'm not willing to spend.
