Leg growth

for legs i only do leg extensions 4 - 5 sets of 25-35kg (pyramid style) and 4-5 sets of sqauts 25-35kg (dont have a squat rack so have to lift the weight above shoulders). i do this routing twice a day on my leg day which is wednesday.
my problem is that iam experiencing no or very little growth even though i get lots of burn the next day and cant walk right :¬/.
squats and leg extensions are the only exercises i can do for legs cos i dont have access 2 a gym. Any help or advice anybody can give me? or any suggestions? (my legs is the lagging part of my body, everything else is at a good standard).

if you learn how to do a clean or power clean you can front squat, maybe if you pre-exhaust with the extensions and do the front squat after? or do a hack squat (heels on block of wood, bar behind you and you deadlift it up)

I wouldn't suggest using a block, it will throw you out of balance.

dont do pre exhaust, its pointless and actually works against you!

If you dont have the opportunity to squat try lunges or bulgarian squats, also front and hack squats.

To quote an old post of mine

'Flex is worthless, it doesnt even make good toilet paper as its too glossy'

seriously, whatever you read in flex, you'd do well to do the opposite of! there was a study reference here recently actually that showed how pre exhuast is pooh

How do you do leg extensions without a gym? They're rubbish anyway.

There is no such thing as toning.

For an exercise to be good at toning it would have to increase muscle mass and reduce bodyfat i.e. spot reduce. Which we all know is impossible.

i have the same set up, can you do leg curls on the lag extension bit. you have to get the position right but i have found it better then sldl (i had to do these first to get enough strength to be able to do the leg curls)

i do leg extensions, squats (normal and wide), reverse leg curl and deadlifts in a curcuit. between 4-6 times depending on the amount of daydreaming i do inbetween sets.

i have seen big improvements, lots of people have commented on how huge my legs are getting, having trouble with trousers now though.

no leg extensions arent good at in my opinion, infact I think its one of the most pointless exercises you can do. Getting the burn doesnt mean a thing mate, I know what you are talking about though, I can remember doing them and they used to hurt like hell!

Actually the more I think about it the more I realise something. The less effective exercises give you a burn and the more effective ones dont tend to give you a burn, they just wipe you out on a whole body level!

    Eg

    Squats / leg extensions
    SLDL / leg curls
    Dips / flies
    etc...

why aren't leg extentions any good?
wouldn't they work in the same way as tricep extentions?
