Legal advice needed guys !!

Hi all

I got back from spain last night to airport parking where ADS had my car waiting for me in a car park.
It was the type of set up where you drop irt off at a car park and they drive it away and bring it back on your return day and you collect it from the drop off point, this is at gatwick manor.

The story goes, i drove it down therein perfect condition last thursday from essex to gatwick, 60 odd miles or so and its fine.

On my return last night at 12am i collect my car and drive out the pick up point to find that my clutch is completly burnt out !!!!!!!
Ther car is a W reg Golf gti turbo.

So i drive back and speak to them, im not an AA or RAC member so i hand to arrange a Tow truck to take me home to essex cost = £280
and i got home at 4am, and had 1 very upset gf with me.

Now clutches just dont go do they !±!!! they wear out, and it wasnt wearing out when i dropped it off, if a clutch is going you know, and mine wasnt going, so i think it has been abused while in there care, eithr somone has gone out and thrashed the bollokcs out my car or they have parked it in a field and had to give it so much clutch slip to get it out etc ??

So where do i stand ??

i said i was gonna get it checked by VW (my mate is a qualified vw technication) and let them know, if its there fault i want them to pay ??

If they refuse what can i do ?? as its is them that fcuked my car ??

help guys !!

First thing i would do i read the small print a dozen times or so, then depending on what you agreed to when signing perhaps seek legal advice.

That is a crap thing to happen btw

you should have taken a note of the milage before you left it at the airport that would give you an idea of how far they have taken it...

get the car checked over full by a qualified tech/mech and have them right a full report out on the car. make a copy and send it to your solicitor with an explination of what has happened and ask him/her to write to the airport and go from there.

I think if you can prove that they were at fault then they will most likely pay for the damages. Also say you want compo for the tech/mech's expences and for the towing home + the push for money off your next filghts...just be cheecky as fcuk...if you dont ask u wont get!

My opinion is it's going to be virtually impossible to prove anything now. By all means try following along the lines of what's been said above but I wouldn't get your hopes up. To be honest even if they did nail it for a short time the chances are it must of been well worn to start with (for it to now have gone completely) so they would probably only have accelerated the inevitable. Still not good though, I'd be well peed off

    kinda related

i worked for a company who did mystery shopping and undercover video camera work in VW service garages and you would be shocked at some of the things that went on

not only that, minor faults were set on the car (ie low trye pressure, split wiper blades etc and generally only 3 out of 10 were rectified even though the service manual states they should be checked

    feel for you locust

my mate does the job you are talking about, picks cars up at airport, drives them to private car park, then brings them back to the airport. He said the best thing about it is that you get to drive fast cars and rag them. I'd speak to the owner of the company.

    An update !

i spoke to the owner of the company, he said if it was his companys fault he wil pay.

Im getting a new clutch put in on monday, and the guy who is fitting it says he will be able to tell by the condition of the clutch what has happened to it.
He is prepared to write a report to confirm that it has been ragged, slipped etc. so hopefully im on a winner.

their is about 3inches of mud around my tyres which to me says its been kept in a field and they have had to slip it to get it out and maybe they have done it to much. anyway we will see.

    I'm impressed !!

How did you convince them they were at fault then? was the mechanics report enough?

Just because one can't understand a concept, doesn't mean that it is wrong.

I just explained to the woman what the mechanic said, he wrote a report saying basically that the clutch was burned out and the car wouldnt have made the journey there in the condition it was in when it left which was proof enough.

Also i called up once and the girl got me confused with another guy who had the same problem that they was sorting aswell, so it seems a bit suss to me.

I'd be wanting more than the tow and repairs for sure! god knows what else could go wrong soon because of what they have done, I'd be checking for paint chips everything. The idiots that did that to you car want a proper hiding, should never mess with a mans car.
