Loving 80's music and movies

Im biased because my childhood was all in the 1980's but I really think that it was the best decade for music and movies. They had the art of writing a catchy tune down that bands of today couldnt even dream of (im becoming an old fart!). My current favourite is  the best is good enough by metropolis http://www.youtube.com/wa...Do&feature=related
you wont hear a catchier song on the current chart i guarantee you. you need to crank it up though! any other great 80's tunes people love?

Yeah, I love this sort of stuff too. There's probably shedloads of albums from lesser known bands that I'd like, most US music in the mid 80s sounded like this! Love a bit of Journey, Chicago and REO Speedwagon.

I agree on the films - so many classics (or at least classics to me). Action, adventure, etc. Plenty of cheesy ones but I still love them.

On music, I prefer early 90's. I like metal, particularly death and black metal. But 80's thrash was cool too.
And I'm partial to a bit of goth, but don't really go for most 80s music.

80's movies are awesome, all the best bond movies, indiana jones, star wars, all the best horrors. i ordered friday the 13th 3 in 3d (with 3d glasses) and the 1988 blob remake off amazon us the other day so looking forward to an evening of cheesy 80s horror very soon!

Does any Youtube music video NOT contain a Justin Bieber argument beneath it these days?

I loved the 80's but strange how things change because during 90's everyone was going on about the how good the 70's was and how sh!t the 80's were.
I remember going on a stag party (in 2000) and trying convince everyone to go in 80's gear instead of 70's gear and everyone thought it was crap idea cos the 80's were sh!te according to them!! Even though they all love the 80's now????
I think its starting again as people will be in to the 90's soon even though ive heard loads people going about how sh!te the 90's were compared to the 80's.

Yep, the pattern is to reject what has recently gone out of fashion and embrace things that are a bit older and have thus become 'retro'.

When I was a kid in the 80s, the most uncool thing imaginable was the 70s with their stupid hair, sad flares and crap music. In the 90s, the 80s were awful (though not to me, I always stayed true to them!). Personally I wonder if it's just to do with the age of the people who have control in the media. Right now the kids of the 80s are running things which is why we see things like Mr T in Snickers adverts.
