Lower Back Pain help please!!!!......

Last night i did deadlifts for the first time. I did 4 sets of 6 reps at 60kg, 60kg, 80kg, 80kg. I pretty sure my movement was correct but this morning, ive woke up with bad lower back pain. I feel like an old man.

Is it likely to be just aching because i've not done deadlifts before or does it sound like i've done some damage?

If its the 1st time u have done them u should have started with lighter weight remember jumpin ahead of yourself will only lead to u fallin back later on.

Well does it feel muscular or deeper?

Next time start of light and don't rush things.

Hopefully it'll ease up in a few days with no lasting damage.

I'd expect if were anything serious you would have felt it whilst actually training.

It felt very tight afterwards. Ive been training heavy for years and didnt think that was too heavy. I thought i was starting off light.

Rest up mate, when you do start again go much lighter and ensure good form throughout.

Does sound like you may have just gone too heavy too quick, or maybe your form was not 100%.

May pay to get someone just to observe next time you take them on.

Use the advice from the guys above.

Rest, do deads only once oer week, and add some hyperextensions to you're routine if possible, never sacrifice good form for extra weight.

These are good. Ease into them gently though

    and if you're feeling adventurous
    http://www.exrx.net/Stretches/ErectorSpinae/Plow.html looks fun;)

I made the mistake of doing my legs , squating, sldl's, today, after doing my back with deadlifts the day before. = very tight lower back really hampered my session today.

    Guys,

An update of my back and my night in A&E!!!

Pain got worse about 2 hours after starting this thread.

I went home from work in severe agony

I had to lie down as i was creasing up in pain

I used half a tin of deep heat, 6 Co-Codamol, 4 Cupronol and 4 Paracetomol and it didnt even touch the pain!

It gets to 11pm and i decide i need to go Hospital because i cant stand the pain anymore.

My missus drives me up to the hospital (while shes 9 months pregnant and about to drop any day), I nearly pass out in the waiting room and they take me straight in!

One more high strenthh pain killer and a soposatry (up the bum), It did nothing, i'm now screaming with pain like a bloody baby while my 9 month pregnant girlfriend looks on.

My biggest fear now is that she go into labour while i'm in this state.

the doctor comes and tells me that my back is having spasms!! He gives me a Diazapam and tells me this will stop it within twenty minutes. I cant see the light at the end of the tunnel and demand an injection too. Dont know what the injected me with but within 10mins i think all 4 meds had kicked in. My back stopped Spasming and i felt high as a kite.
The pain had gone! Thank jesus for that.

That was on Thursday night! they gave me tabs to take home (diazapam for at night) and it graduly got better.

luckily, by Saturday my back was feeling a million times better and i could get around as normal. Good job as my missus went into labour on Saturday night!!! 3 and a half hours later she had our son!

Someone must of been looking over me, because if this would have happened on thursday i wouldnt have been any use.

Guess i'll be going lighter on the deadlifts in future!!!

    congratulations mate !

rest up , then when you return to training spend a few weeks with a low weight and concentrate on fourm and technique , use your phone or get someone to watch your form. only after that start to slowly increase the weights

Mine went into spasm as well about 2 months ago a week after hurting it doing deadlifts, not nice, sorest thing I have ever had I think, worse than a perfroated ear drum or broken bone.
