MASHED up Big time!!

Hi guys i need some help. Recently i have started going quite heavy on my benches. The other day i was benching 160 key when on my second rep as i brought the bar down i felt my muscle tear where my right pec joins to the delt. The injury hapened i think because i held the bar unevenly and so the stretch on the right side was greater. Instantly i couldnt continue with my workout. Its been seven days now the pain has gone away copmpletely but when i lift its clear that my right side has been weakened. I just went downstairs and managed 1 set of 100 on ten reps but it felt funny, Like my right side of the chest wasnt doing any work. My question is how long does it take for a muscle to repair after tissue damage such as a tear occurs? Also is the muscle weakened (i.e knocked back) and so has to be trained to that level again? Im pretty sure there was not tendon damage because i cant feel any pain in the tendon area, its just the muscle, which feels loose and weakened. All help would be much appreciated.

THANK YOU KINDLY!!

I also forgot to mention that i have been applying deep heat regularly but that doesnt seem to have strengthened the muscle again (just made all the pain go away. Im also gonna try powergel which has the active ingredient Ketoprofen. Any body used this stuff? the doc gave it me on prescription.

**DISCLAIMER: I'm simply repeating what I was told when I had a similar problem with my shoulder**

Some muscle's can take as long as bone to repair (i.e. 6-8 weeks).

I was told that the 'gel' like stuff you're using at the moment will NOT have any effect on recovery, it'll simply make the pain a little more bearable.

    Anyone else?......

Hmmm bro. Thing is i dont have any pain at the moment. Six weeks out from doing your favourite movement is an awfully long time. The muscle feels normal now but in actually perfoming a lift feels weakened. Is there anything that you guys can reccomend to speed up the healing process. This injury has really got me depressed in a way never before.

    thanks

If it feels fine mate, then train....but be honest with yourself. I tend to know when something is not right, and adjust/stop accordingly.

But I know how you feel, it is awfully depressing not being able to train properly, but training when 'knacked' will only serve to ensure it's longer still till you get back into full training.
