M-Dien second cycle - comp prep - conclusion added

Today I'm starting my second cycle of M-Dien.  I'm hoping that the experience I gained from the first time round will help to make this cycle even more successful.  The cycle will be as follows....

M-Dien - 8mg
Black Lion Prolactrone - 2 caps
Taurine - 5g

PCT
Nolva - 20/20/20/20/10/10
Macuna Puriens - 300mg ED
Vit B6 - 300mg ED

The Prolactrone has been added to keep prolactin levels in check.  I did have a minor issue in my last cycle with the onset of Gyno symptons so I'm hoping this will address that.  The Macuna Puriens and B6 will take over once the tub is finished to do the same job.  I'm also hoping that both of these will also keep my libido in better shape than last time.  I'll be running Nolva for longer as it seemed that the standard 4 weeks was not enough last time.

Goal wise for this cycle is where it gets interesting.  I'll be peaking for a powerlifting competition which will be on the 22nd Feb so I'll be expecting a nice strength increase like last time.  The difference this time around is that I'm starting the cycle and build up relatively injury free where as last time I had back issues that prevented me training my squat and deadlift properly.  Despite the injury last time I still managed a PB Squat and joint PB Deadlift so I'm hoping that this cycle will see me smash those numbers.

I'm also thinking about entering the January SUC for additional motivation to keep the diet good and clean.  After the christmas indulgence I weighed in this morning at 84kg and my abs have pretty much vanished from sight.  I actually want to finish as near to 90kg as possible (but not over) for my weight class.  Obviously I'd like to do this whilst dropping some fat and uncovering the abs again.  My plan is to eat at maintenace calories and adjust dependant on progress with training and fat loss.  I don't want to sacrifice strength at this point for the sake of vanity though.

I've not really tested my maxes properly recently although I did a 200kg squat two weeks ago and it was very comfortable.  Most I've benched recently was 125kg (not maxed) and I've been relatively cautious with my Deadlift as I managed to hurt my back not long ago pulling 175kg.  Although my back seems fine again now I don't want to take any chances so I'll be keeping the Deadlift training light whilst Squating twice a week in the hope that it'll be alright on the night.

I had a nice deload week last week so today is the start of the hard graft again.  I'll no doubt be hurting tomorrow.

Cheers Dave, it'll be my first competition for over 18 months and I'm very m uch looking forward to it.  I'm actually contemplating it being my last though but we'll see.

Yesterdays Bench session didn't start too great.  I got the main work done but when I got to the overhead work I went into a mad cold sweat with jelly legs and faintness.  Almost felt like low blood sugar but food was good before I got to the gym.  Not gonna let it bother me too much though.....

Bench
5 x 60kg
5 x 70kg
5 x 80kg
5 x 5 - 92.5lg
5 x 100kg
5 x 105kg
10 x 80kg
10 x 60kg

Pull ups
3 x 10

Overhead Press
5 x 40kg
4 x 5 - 65kg

Squats in a couple of hours.  I've currently got the pre squat anxiety going on.

Yeah, hypo seems to be a common report, keep an eye on it, maybe 50g dextrose mixed with your water etc during workouts?

I didn't seem to have a problem with that last time and and that training was after the first tab.  A little too early perhaps for such a side?  I do recall last M-Dien run my blood pressure was a little high/low as I'd get frequent dizziness if I stood up a little too quick.  Nothing major though.

Training was a little better today but it did destroy me.  I'm beginning to question the benefits of a deload week as the first week back is pure hell.

Squat
5 x 60kg
5 x 80kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 120kg
5 x 5 - 140kg
5 x 150kg
5 x 100kg
10 x 60kg

Barbell Lunges
3 x 10 - 60kg

That was it.  The last heavy set at 150kg totally fried me.  I had intentions of sets of 10 at 100kg as I normally would but I just didn't have it in me.  Recently I was Deadlifting on Squat day aswell but as I'm lessening the deadlifts in order to minimise the chances of injury I've swapped that to lunges which I haven't done in a while.  I don't ever remember them destroying my ham strings quite like they did today though!!  Normally I'd have done some leg raises, hyper extensions and some incline walking after that but the Mrs turned up and wanted my help with her squatting so I got distracted with that.  To be fair I was almost greateful

Don't think I'll be doing any gym work tomorrow but if the weather is reasonable enough and I'm still able to walk then i'll be doing some riding at a BMX track.  That's pretty brutal in itself.

I benched yesterday but just didn't get chance to update it until this morning as I was on a night shift afterwards.  I'm not crazy enough to train that hard twice in one day!!

My legs are in bits today!  The weather meant I didn't get out to do any BMX riding so I decided to go and do a little bit at the gym instead as I haven't done anything geared towards cardio / fitness since before christmas.

Evil 8 Barbell Complex - 6 x 6 - 24kg

Dead bugs / Plank / Roman twists 8kg
3 x 20 / 3 x 45 seconds / 3 x 20

Hyper extension
3 x 10

Hamstring & Glute stretches

Incline Walk - 6kph - 15 degree - 15 minutes

I've not done any core work for a looooong time either and it was bloody tough.  This is just a week of intense DOMS although this little bit of work did aleviate the leg pain for a while.  It's back with a vengence now though.

IMO still too early in the cycle to notice anything worth mentioning.  I'll be taking pictures at the weekend for the SUC so this whole thing should be interesting.

Right then.  Feeling fantasic today, loads of energy and a general feeling of well being.  Perhaps it's down to not eating any crap for the past 3 days or perhaps it's the onset of M-Dien goodness.  For the first time since the beginning of the Christmas excess I don't feel bloated or lethargic.  I felt great in the gym today, strong and enthusiastic.  I left there feeling very happy with myself.....

Overhead Press
5 x 40kg
5 x 50kg
5 x 60kg
5 x 5 - 70kg
5 x 75kg
5 x 80kg
5 x 85kg

Bench
5 x 60kg
5 x 80kg
3 x 5 - 90kg

Reverse Cable Flyes
3 x 10 - 10kg

EZ Bar Skull Crushers / DB Hammers
10 x 25kg / 10 x 16kg
10 x 35kg / 10 x 16kg
10 x 40kg / 10 x 16kg

Incline Walk - 6kph - 15 degree - 15 minutes

Hamstring & Glute stretches

I didn't mention in the initial post that I'm taking my second M-Dien pill at approximately 15:00 as last time I did experience some difficulty in falling asleep.  Do you think taking the second does earlier in the day will actually help with that at all?

Fair play to you bud.  Powerlifting is the best thing I ever decided to do as far as training is concerned.  It gave me a purpose to my training and when you have your name down and the date is set then it really changes your focus and motivation.  I've done about 5-6 comps but none in the last 18 months due to various injuries.  All of those had been in a tested Federation and this is my first in the untested.  I know I'm not going to even come close to the people in my class but it's never been about winning for me.  It was always about beating myself.  Sometimes the injury side of things makes me wonder if it's worth it but I just love it.  When I wasn't doing the comps I'd go and watch and be gutted I wasn't lifting.  What weight class you in and what you hoping to total?

82.5kg but I'm only about 81 so got plenty of room to grow yet. hopefully somewhere around 560kg. Hoping to get 210/140/210 Just knee sleeves. I did a couple of comps back in uni but recently been doing Crossfit and got the lifting bug again. Need to back down on the conditioning till March now. I'm looking forward to it but nervous as hell

Similar total to what I'd like to hit but you're lighter than me you bugger   As soon as that first Squat is done the nerves disappear and it's nothing but fun.

Sleep was terrible last night.  Took ages to fall asleep and then I was awake at 5am until I got out of bed at just gone 6am.  Sat and watched the news for a while and had some breakfast and then went back to bed to fall easily asleep at 8am only to be woken by the post man at 9:15am.  I hope this is only a temporary glitch as I do enjoy my sleeping.  Other possible side is random spot on my forearm.  I seem to remember these cropping up last time.  Individual spots in the strangest of places.  Other than these two issues feeling generally well and starting to get a harder, fuller look.  My traps are definitely beginning to show the signs of being on cycle.

Gym work today wasn't anything intense.  Deadlift day but the plan is to go light with these and build really slowly with the idea that if I'm gonna injure myself I'll do it at the competition.  At least by then I'll have done my Squat and Bench.

Squat
5 x 60kg
5 x 80kg
5 x 100kg
3 x 5 - 130kg

Deadlift
5 x 60kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 5 - 120kg

BB Lunges
10 x 60kg
10 x 70kg
10 x 80kg

Close grip lat pull down
10 x 77kg
10 x 87kg
8 x 97kg

Wide grip cable row
10 x 45kg
10 x 55kg
10 x 65kg

Incline Walk - 6kph - 15 degree - 15 minutes

The deadlifts felt fine and caused no back problem. The squats moved nicely and everything else was just fluff really.  I kind of lost interest towards the end.  Looking forward to a weekend of non training now although I will be at work.  I think i'll be through the DOMS stage aswell now after this week.  At least I hope so

I've been looking foward to getting back into the gym all weekend   A good two days of none training rest and all is well.  Diet has been nice and tidy still with only one cheat meal on Saturday.  I've no issuses with that at all and I'm going to stick with that every week.  My energy and sense of well being remains good and high with my sleep improving slightly over the last few days.  I'm hoping the early insomnia was just an adjustment thing.  My urine is still good and clear with lots of fluids being consumed and there's been no more random spots.  So far, so good after week 1.

I've also put my pictures up and entered the SUC so if you're in any way interested have a look in there to see my starting point.  I'm not sure I can be bothered to repost them in this thread.

Training today felt good and strong and I suspect a tiny bit of strength gain might be starting to rear it's head........

I was a little jaded from the night shift last night and the gym was practically empty.  I really wanted someone to come in just so I could chat in between sets to take my mind off the fatigue.  Fortunately though the session went incredibly well and I can't really complain.  I was working at triples today without knee wraps and I'm quite pleaed with where I'm at for this point.  I'll be going to the competition gym next week to get some practice in on the mono-lift and also wearing knee wraps against bare skin which is something I've not actually done yet.

Squat
5 x 60kg
5 x 80kg
5 x 100kg
3 x 125kg
5 x 3 - 150kg
3 x 160kg
3 x 170kg
10 x 100kg
10 x 60kg
