MT Dips Competition - Current Champion = Hulkster!

(THIS IS A PARALLEL BAR DIP COMPETITION!)

Well there is a bench competition, so i thought there should be a dip competition for those of us who prefer them.

It is difficult to think of a fair or happy medium as peoples bodyweight will vary so drasticly, but after consideration this seemed reasonable.

If anyone has any better suggestions or reasons why that is a bad weight to choose then please let me know and maybe i will revise it.

So there you go do as many reps as you can, let me know and i'll do a league table. Just like the powerlifting comp above.

And please, let's have proper full range honest reps here!

Cheers

AL

I have entered my name in a few times as an example.

    Big-AL:

I think for the contest to be fair it would have to be based on multiples of bodyweight not total weight lifted.

well i will have to see. at the mo im a fraction over 17st and did dips last week with 45lb attatched for 13 reps. so i think i need to add about 25kg and go for reps with that.

I wouldn't manage 1 rep. I weigh 75k and can just do reps with 25k around me. I agree with Frankie, i think it should be something like 1.5 or 2 times body weight.

ozzy, ifthe comp was 2times body weight then you still would have to add 65k,

i think the suggestion of 1.5x bw is the best so far.

big-al, i weigh in at about 68kg, i cannot imagine doing rps with 72kg strapped to me....

ozzy, i reckon you are spot on with 1.5x bodyweight though.... but
what does the board think about having a set weight, like say, 20-30kgs??

because lets face it, even though 20-30kg ain't a lot to someone that weighs 200-300lb+ i would wager that it would be no less difficult for them as they have more bw to lift in the first place??

i reckon best suggestions so far are:

    #1. 1.5xbw
#2. a set weight that is less than 40kg preferabley clser to 20, or am i just a chicken??

I'm 97kg, so would need to wrap 43kg and dip, ok, i can tell you that the amount of reps is 0

difficult thing to find a fair way to do this, we need weight categories or something...

I'm about 100kg and can do about +25kg now for five or six. Way off being able to do 50kg to compete.

I say we have 4-5 different categories this way everyone can compete and you can choose which category you would like to compete in.

    Bodyweight - # of reps
    1.25 Bodyweight - # of reps
    1.5 Bodyweight - # of reps
    1.75 Bodyweight - # of reps
2 times Bodyweight - # of reps <--- if someone wants to show off

Well i certainly got the opinions i asked for!!![:p]

I think this idea of Dano's is the best - shall we go for that?

I will set it up on post one with this format in anticipation.

This way anyone can enter and everyone can enter as many classes as they like! Great stuff, if anyone insane person does more than double bw then they can have their own class!!

Tuc-biscuit that will sort you out! and if not and you do double bodyweight at 140kg bw i'll drive to your house and kneel at your feet!!!

    Cheers all
