I agree with you on having a back off week mate, prob every 4 or 5 weeks. Depends on how you feel really, listen to your body and try to avoid overtraining. I taper off week before fight night down to nothing but light stretching. Recovery time is so important as you probably know already and taking a few days off when you are fighting fit will recharge your batteries and you won't lose any fitness.
