Mate talking rubbish ...

I have a mate who got quite big and used to box semi-pro.

Say him clubbing last night (I was wearing a tight diesel T shirt) and he couldn't get over the size of my chest and arms. We started talking about BBing and he asked if I was on gear. I said "no" of course (even though I am) as it's not what I want everyone to know.

he then said to promise I wouldn't etc as it f**ked up his life. Asking further, and not wanting to seem like I knew too much by mentioning diffrent types I asked him a few questions.

He said his diet was clean and he was eating loads, he was training right at 2-3 hours per day, but all it did to him was give him a beer belly (which he now has). He also said that he reacted 'differently' to other people. He's not the kind of person to lie about things, but could be misinformed.

I can't see how AAS could do this - at all.

What I think is that he did was eat big, but had a poor idea of what food is clean, and was overtraining (2-3 hours a day!). He probably had no idea of routine if he wasn't clued up about overtraining. Then his muscles wouldn't grow much after water disappeared, but high kcal intale would make him fat.

What do you guys think? Just an "uneducated" user buying stuff off a mate thinking it's a miracle drug?

I used to know a boxer years ago, he was a pro' but refered to himself as a semi-pro cos he still carried on with his day job ??
On the subject of the AAS causing a beer belly (or a belly anyway). I doubt that the AAS's would do this if eating and training was good. I always put weight on my belly while on cycle but that is part of the overall weight gain through eating loads ( I don't eat 100% clean) and drinking loads of water. His training sounds off to me, not enough rest and I doubt if he could keep up any intensity for that length of time every day. Must have been very relaxed workouts IMO. Is it posible that he's exagerating a bit, lol.

well studies show a mixture of hgh and/or insulin can store fat under your muscles, so thats why alot of pros have the extended gut

Fat can only be stored where fat cells exists.
Isn't the extended gut due to tons of HGH which had the side effect of extending your intestines which cause the stomach to extend?

yeah my understanding was that the enlarged gut was caused by the increased size of some of the internal organs

hgh gut is actually more caused by the use of IGF than hgh.

Sorry I just can't see steroids causing a beer belly. Unless he was stuffing his face with crap at the same time, or eating lots of good food but not doing enough training.

Sorry what's the guy supposed to have said wrong?

Why are people here saying that he's talking "garbage"?

He says he reacted differently to other people on gear. Yeah that's normal. Gear can have some effects on mood in many people.

He got a gut. That's more to do with diet, but yes androgens do encourage fat storage to be more in the gut than subcutaneously. Men get a fat gut, women get fat all over, this is mostly down to androgen levels.

He didn't get good gains. Right. Considering we don't even know what he was on, and considering he's a boxer not a bber, that's hardly surprising really is it.

I don't see anything unrealistic about what this guy has said.

Semi-pro, means that you get paid to fight pro, but are not in the earnings bracket to earn enough money to pack your day job.

I was under the impression that the "extended gut" was caused by HGH making the internal organs grow.

i dont think anyone really knows, some blame hgh, some blame insulin, some igf-1 & others all 3, as far as ive read, the latest theory is insulin in large doses with improper eating provides fat to subcutaneous storage under the muscles
