Mechanics/Megane owners?

Hi folks just had a call from a damsel in distress re her car which is a newish Megane about 23,000 miles on the clock.
She is telling me of rough running of the kind that made me think HT leads or some kind of ignition problem straight away. Then she mentioned her 'poisonous fumes' warning light had come on
A bit of google leads me to believe that this light, coupled with symptoms of rough running/intermittent loss of power on the Megane is a symptom that the ignition coils are to blame. Obviously it may just be one of the coils but I believe all four are changed as a matter of course.

Would appreciate it if anyone has any thoughts.

    Phoned her back and told her it is probably the coil(s) and she has now booked it into a Renault garage where they agreed it was the most likely diagnosis. She was pleased to be able to approach them with a suggestion rather than a look on her face that said;
    "I know nothing".

    Kudos to Dave if it does turn out to be a killer robot.

    its those citroens you need to be careful with they can ice skate and everything

    on a serious note coils are a commons problem depending on if it has 1, 2 or 4 coils they will usually only change the faulty one(s)

    My scenic has coil issues... fuel consumption goes thru the roof when it does. Simple job to fix tho, usually done in a couple of hours
