Definitely lean and dry. Looking well dialled in. You certainly won't get docked anything for condition if things go right on the day

Cheers.

Finally day of carb up today. Dan thinks I'm ready now, so to have another two weeks to polish means we can cruise in, which is great. I still think I've got a bit of fat to come off but then I would, wouldn't I...

Hey mate, I just thought I would post to say hello. I have been keeping up with your journal but didn't want to but in as I like to let you describe the process in your own words.

I have told Eugene this but I want to say it to everyone here...

It has been a pleasure coaching him, seeing his physique improve and his posing develop has been awesome but the greatest thing I have brought him is the self belief he deserves. It has been a very interesting prep as I spent the first two thirds trying to convince him that he looked great and would look even better only to be met with self doubt and low self esteem. It has been a joy to see him gain confidence and embrace everything. We have become friends and I am extremely excited to see him compete in a few weeks.

17/03/19 - CHECK-IN

Check-in moved to Sunday from Friday this week due to our practice peak. Turns out we need more carbs to fill out as I looked better last night than this morning. Still, two weeks left.

Last week's weight: 179.8lbs
This week's weight: 178.8lbs

Last week's waist: 30in.
This week's waist: 29.5in.

My waist is 29.5inches, I can hardly believe it. I need to order my posing trunks tomorrow. Back on plan this week. I will turn this journal into a first-person diary soon, charting each day as we edge closer to comp.

PCA FIRST TIMERS - MASTERS OVER 40 - COUNTDOWN

18/03/19 - 13 days out

Feels weird counting down in days now. A good weird. Feeling drained today. Did cardio after workout, before my PWO, as I didn't want to do it at gone midnight again when I can be practising posing. A little snappy today too. Bloke in the gym asked me what BF I am now: "0, 2, 3'? he says. "No, about 7 last time we guessed," I reply. "No way, much lower," he says. I'm not and will chip away at some more these next two weeks. Oh for 12 boxes of coco pops at once though.
Turns out I haven't been counting the starting weight on leg press - which is 75kg. So all of my lifts need 75kg adding to them. Am I really leg pressing 535kg for reps?
Will get some more tanning sessions in tomorrow and Wednesday as I'm off.

LOWER 1 [this now includes the 75kg starting weight]
Leg press
100kg x 15 w
200kg x 4 w
250kg x 3 w
300kg x 2 w
525kg x 12 [last time 515kg x 10]535kg x 8 [525kg x 8]

Single leg press
225kg x 10 [last time 220kg x 10]
225kg x 8 [last time 220kg x 8]

Split squats
80kg x 6 [last time 75kg x 10]

Leg extension [muscle round]
93kg x 4/4/4/4/4/1 [last time 93kg x 4/4/4/4/3/1]

Adductor [rest pause]
79kg x 15/F/F [last time 79kg x 13F/F]

Single leg curl [rest pause]
R: 36kg x 8/F 27kg/F [last time 36kg x 36kg x 10/F/F]
L: 36kg x 10 plus hrs/F 27kg/F [last time 36kg x 10/F/F]

Lying leg curl [muscle round]
45kg x 4/4/4/hrs/hrs/hrs [last time 50kg x 4/4/4/hrs/hrs

Calf press
153kg x 32 [last time 153kg x 30]
155kg x 16 [last time 153kg x 20]
155kg x 10 [last time 153kg x 18]

Time: 1hr 40min.

"0?" LOL at being zero % BF

People love, and seem to have a need, to throw arbitrary numbers around. I mean, yeah it's kind of nice to assign something to what you are but it doesn't ultimately matter. I also find it interesting that the bigger someone is the leaner they look at high actual %ages... if you have no muscle you need to be silly low to look ripped, but if you have some mass you can look leaner a good 3% higher.

Never put too much thought in to leg press weights, the way these sorts of machine work can differ a lot and one machine you may find 300kg heavy as hell then another you can nearly double it for reps.

In which case I might just forget the starting weight, though I factor it in to everything else. To be honest, I might even be higher than 7%, maybe even double figures still. But I can see and feel and main artery running down from the top of each leg, so I must be fairly lean. Plus there's veins all over my abs.

PCA FIRST TIMERS - MASTERS OVER 40 - COUNTDOWN

19/03/19 - 12 days out

Dragging myself to gym. No energy again. This is becoming hard now. No idea where strength is coming from, because I continue to PB in most lifts. Cardio tough. Just want to sleep really. One of the PTs in the gym - a 6ft 7in guy who I could've sworn thought I was a bellend - said he'd come to my show. Told him it was a sell out and he said: "OK, well, when's it's over, you can coach me, I'm looking for a coach." Weird. I'm not up to doing that, but I know a good one.

PCA FIRST TIMERS - MASTERS OVER 40 - COUNTDOWN

20/03/19 - 11 days out

Staring into space all morning. Cold. No energy or drive again. Getting missus to give me a show haircut and full body wax in a minute. Got to be done lads I'm afraid. Non-training day diet today, meaning almost no carbs. Joy. At least there's lots of fat. Salt takes the edge off. Diet coke too. Just wish I had some get up and go.

Hows the Mrs finding the prep? I know she's been very supportive but does the commitment you have to give to your program ever get to her? Does she like how you look?
