I've actually been taking 5HTP and St Johns Wort this week. Early days yet, but not sure if i'm noticing any difference.

I was under the impression from people that have used these that the effects are noticeable.

Maybe need to increase dosage?

Nah, would doubt it.
St. Johns wart is supposed to work like an SSRI if i remember.
Nootropics are effective, which ones and what dose are variable.

Not heard of SSRI before. Just read up on it. I hope I'm not depressed !

Recently been trialling a supplement with 5HTP. Found a (obviously subjectively) deeper sleep at night, easier to wake up and overall improved mood - possibly as I slept better. No other changes to my diet or sleeping pattern, work or training pattern. Peak improvements around 2-3 weeks, seemed to plateau after this but still better than the last 2 weeks where I have been without it. Going to buy again soon and revisit this as a trial, again nothing else will be changing and I shall be interested to see what the deal is this time, although I am aware I want to see a benefit for spending the money

5 HTP will only work if you are difficient in Serotonin.

I have experienced some mood improvement by using Phenibut, calmer as well.
Increasing Dopamine levels can elevate mood as well as improving sleep (which in turn improves ones mood)

I believe there is a more noticeable mood effect if that is the case, but not the only circumstances where there is another effect, such as sleep, which can indirectly affect stress/mood?

I bought 5htp as a mood enhancer but I've decided I'm only going to give it a go when I feel like I'm slipping into a depressive cycle rather than just taking it for the sakes of taking it.. Heard it's possible to become addicted to SSRI's as well if you're knocking them back like there's no tomorrow

Current PB's
100kg Clean & Jerk
110kg Bench
190kg Deadlift
140kg Back Squat
120kg Front Squat

I love 5- htp. It gives me fantastically lucid dreams and a great nights sleep. I really rate it as a supplement.

As a side note: one can increase serotonin levels through eating certain foods, Bananas are a good natural source of Serotonin precursor.
