Morning training routine

Hi

I'm thinking of starting up a morning training routine, something along the lines of:

Day 1
* Deadlift 4x6
* Squats 4x6
* DB Rows 4x6

Day 2
* Bench 4x6
* Seated BB Press 4x6
* WG Chins 4x10

Will also throw in some cardio days too.

Not trained with weights in the morning before only cardio, would be looking to train about 6am - heard conflicting views on it particularly with the deadlifts/squats so early after getting up.

I'd probably carb up the night before and have some coffee first thing.

Appreciate your views before I commence with this!

Cheers

    I train at 6 in the morning and do similar power lifting / strongman training... You've pretty much got the bases covered already IMO...

    Just to add though, I've found that I need to take my warm ups more serious in the morning. I get up at 5:05 ish, nail a caffeine tab, drink a load of water, get dressed (Usually compression clothing and base layers for warmth) and then I'll start doing warm ups at home. Dynamic stuff like leg swings, body weight squats, lunges etc. Drive to the gym with the heaters on full blast, then once inside do more warm ups and slowly load the bars.

    I need to get the blood pumping and my core temp raised, and this takes a while for me.

    I would suggest if you're able, to have a nice hot shower too which should help warm you up... Sadly I'm unable as I tend to wake up the kids and nobody needs that at 5:30 before the gym haha.

    I train fasted too, bar a caffeine tab, but I do tend to have a good meal before bed.

    Great thanks for that, I did some cardio work this morning, 10 min spin bike and a small circuit, afterwards was dizzy and nearly blacked out, I'd say down to low blood sugar / lack of carbs so I thinking I should have some carbs, possibly in the way of a protein/oat shake before I start as don't want that happening again!

    Unfortunately hot shower is out of the equation as got 2 children sleeping upstairs that I don't want to wake!

    I train in my garage so only have to go downstairs but I think will carb up 30 mins prior after today...

    Good man.

    In terms of nutrition and supps, it does take a bit of experimentation and finding out what works for you as an individual. I get on fine with just caffeine in me, and sometimes I will have some MCT oil with that too for a little energy kick.

    Just keep a little log of what you ate or consumed pre training and note how you felt during and after. Best way IMO.

    A large carb meal the night before can help too, but again it boils down to finding what works best for us as an individual.

    P.S I don't do cardio in the morning, only weights so I'm not surprised you felt dizzy... I'd probably die if I did that haha.

    I too train at 6am and I train fasted with no issues.  Only thing that I do early morning is drink load of hot/warm water so that I feel hydrated to the max.  On the way to the gym, short drive away I do some slow deep breathing with the windows wound down a bit.  I find that by doing this it wakes me up quite a bit and then I am good to go.

    Take things slowly, allow yourself some time to acclamitise the change in train timing by adjusting intensity for the first few sessions and then I'm sure you'll be fine.
