Nice squatting. Did you ever get that double BW squat last year? Can’t be that far away now, another 30kg’s?

I did indeed - hit a solid 175kg and a pretty ugly 180kg

Hovering around 86kg at the moment but that should drop a bit so 170kg should get it done.

Goal/dream has always been 200kg, doubt I’ll ever get there though!

We'll be the judge of that, get one loaded up. Geniuenly intrigued to see it in action. That's a pretty impressive movement to do no matter what it looks like mate.

Fasting, front squats and bodyweight stuff today

Front Squats

40 x 5
55 x 4
70 x 3
80 x 2
90 x 1
100 x 1

First time doing front squats since my extended break. Kept it fairly light, was struggling to get bar position right tbh

5 sets

80kg Front Squat x 3
Skin The Cat x 1
Back Lever Tuck Hold x 1
Front Lever Tuck Hold x 1
Skin The Cat x 1

Recorded the ring stuff for Deano, this was the first set and body position was terrible. Got better as the sets went on

Ring Dips

10 minutes skill practice, pretty useless at these. So much harder than bar dips but infinitely kinder on my shoulders

Ring Rows

4x8 (feet on floor)

Diamond Push Ups

4x8

Yeah I love fronties, 100kg is ok I guess but that was a comfy 5RM in the old days...

Squats again tonight and 140 felt way heavier than last week but still went up fine. Probably a combo of low calories (gone 800/2600/800 so far this week) and dropping too cautiously and not getting enough rebound.

While I’m trying to drop weight I may alternate heavy squats/fronties on Mondays then do lighter squats on Wednesdays

Had DOMS in muscles I didn’t know existed after Monday’s bodyweight training. More tonight.

08/11/17

Squats (each set SS with max ring dips)

60 x 5
85 x 4
105 x 3
125 x 2
140 x 1

5 Sets

112.5kg Squat x 3
STC/BL Tuck/FL Tuck

Ring Pull Ups + negatives

5 + 3
4 + 4
4 + 4
4 + 4

Rubbish, made up the reps with negatives

Wide Push Ups

8,8,8,8

Brief update on the last couple of weeks - hurt my back (presume from squatting) so I’ve just keeping things ticking along with some upper and bodyweight stuff. Back feels ok now but knee hurts lol. Getting old is rubbish 😥

Just spent a few days in Belgium for a Stag do drinking all the beer. Might take me a while to recover lol.

Lastly, I’ve joined a gym! It’s a family membership for a DL as the wife wanted somewhere to go. Will probably try to use gym there a couple of times a week, will mostly be used for tennis I expect.

21/11/17

Our work gym has been refurbished so I thought I’d check it out this morning - has it fook been refurbed, looks exactly the same. Except it has a decent shower now lol.

No chance of weights there but a decent enough option for morning cardio - did 5km on a hill program on the treadmill.

Belgium beer is lovely but you do feel it!

Ouch on the back. Did you notice it during or after training?

Last couple of weekends (stag do a week ago and the wedding just gone) have left me in a right state, waaaay too much booze and junk calories 😡

Much merriment was had but badly need to get back at it.

Played 1.5 hours of tennis tonight, and some yoga/mobility. Hoping for more yoga in the morning if I can get out of bed (doubtful) then either an upper or lower session depending on which bits are least achey!

Shoulder is fooked from serving yesterday (old injury) and hamstring/glute not in a great way either.

Got an initial consultation booked with an osteo for tomorrow afternoon.

Plus side, elbow held up fine playing tennis.
