So decided to run after work. As I said, I wanted something longer or faster........ I got neither. I felt awful and ended up plodding for 3 miles. Slower than I’ve run in ages.

Suppose that is my 3rd run in 4 days after not running much. So that’s that but it’s done.

Up for an early weights session.  Job done.

Weight has dropped another pound.  1 to go to get back to normal in a week.  I'm really hungry today and there are a couple of healthy but bigger options on the works menu.  I'll opt for one of those over a chicken salad or sandwich.

So planning the rest of the week out.

I already have 2 runs, 1 swim and 1 weights in the bag.  I have decided that I won't run again now this week.  I have now done 3 runs in 4 days and on Saturday I'm doing the 10 mile Tough Mudder.  Yes, this will be a lot of walking and climbing and jogging inbetween.  And we are doing it as a group so I expect it to be slow.  But 10 miles is 10 miles and I don't want already sore legs.

  • Tonight - nothing.  I need to call somewhere which makes me late home, I did weights this morning, I can rest tonight
  • Tomorrow - I'd like to swim in the morning and do a bike ride after work.  I have to finish work early to sign something which gets me home early so it's a good time to ride
  • Friday - weights in the morning - probably nothing at night or a swim if possible
  • Saturday - Tough Mudder
  • Sunday - Not sure but something.  My Tri club do an open water swim.  I'd like to get out on the bike.  Ideally doing both but not sure what will happen.

Quick update....... ever changing plans!

I didn't get up for the gym this morning.  No real reason, just didn't do it.  Lazyness I suppose.

Second thing, it looks like I'm not doing Tough Mudder.  I didn't really want to do it (although I'm annoyed I paid £80 to enter now) and was just going along with the GF and friends.  I had my youngest on the phone upset missing me last week and we've agreed I'll have him this Saturday.

Third thing..... I think (we still need to book and confirm), that I'm open water swimming tonight.  I still hope to ride my bike.  So quick ride then off to swim.  I would then hope to ride on Sunday again.  And if I'm not doing tough mudder, I ought to run on Friday/Saturday.

Life is never straight forward. No open water swimming but I did a 3 mile run. I don’t mind, I need the running and now I know there’s open water swimming on a Thursday I will do it in future.

Weights this morning.

Fractions of a pound away from hitting my previous weight and dropping the America weight inside 1 week.  But it's Friday and I can't guarantee I will be good!

My weekend plans are a little unknown.  I think I'm doing Tough Mudder.  I'd like a bike ride (or even 2).  I'd like to swim but that could wait until Monday if needed (it would then be a priority on Monday).

Ordered a sensible chicken sandwich for lunch.  Was starving all morning so order a portion of chips to go with it.  So I won't be losing that last pound this week!

Managed a swim tonight. Just 15 minutes. I seem to have to lost my flow with this lately and need to build back up.

I am not doing tough mudder tomorrow so will get a decent bike ride in tomorrow instead. Sunday will be rest with potentially something in the evening but we’ll see.

Taking 12st 8lbs as a final weight.  1lb over previous, 4lbs off the post America trip weight.

Just planning a route for my ride this morning.  Although I want a "big" ride, I haven't been doing loads.  This will be the start of much more cycling so I have just planned a 20 mile route out.  I can add a few miles on if I feel I want to, but I also know that once it's in my head I won't!  So just steady this morning.

I'm slightly annoyed that I missed open water swimming on Thursday, I have my youngest tomorrow so can't do tomorrow. But these are my Tri club sessions.  I totally forgot that the place I went to 2 weeks ago does Saturdays and I could have got up this morning and gone!  I thought about that too late.  Not to worry, I'll go Thursday and aim to OWS once a week if possible.

Really pleased with this mornings ride. I wanted some decent miles. I’m aware that the Yorkshire ride that we ended up missing 2 weeks ago was going to be the start of lots of summer miles. We’d dropped from the 50 to 30 miler and then couldn’t do it. But I’m also aware that meant I’ve not been out on the bike for any decent miles for a while now.

Sooooo...... I planned a 20 mile route but also looked at options to extend it. I got to 10 and felt ok. So extended it. Stopped about 18 or so for coffee and cake. Then just made a route up to get home avoid the obvious main road route.

I ended with 29 miles. I really struggled towards the end which is annoying for those miles but there was some nasty hills in there.

So job done. Big ride in. Swimming will get caught up next week. 3 runs this week. Got my weights in. And a big ride. Happy with that.

There’s also a lot going on in my private life at the minute so that 3 hours riding, on my own, gorgeous sunny weather and scenery, was just what I needed.

Start of a new week and in many ways the start of a few changes.  Training is about to go through the roof.  Focus is going up.  Work and training.

20 minute swim done this morning before work.

So this week......

  • Monday - Swim - Running club for either 5 or 7 mile run (can't decide whether to jump back in at 7 or not)
  • Tuesday - Weights - Ride - I'm doing a hill climb event with the Tri club.  It's 8 miles away so will ride there and back
  • Wednesday - Swim - Run (maybe running club, maybe on my own)
  • Thursday - Weights - Open water swim
  • Friday - Unsure as I will have covered all bases but something and maybe a run
  • Weekend - got the kids so a rest weekend.  3 mile run thrown in one of the days.
Diet will be controlled.  I want to drop a stone quick.  Hoping I can sort of eat a bit more liberally with all that exercise and still lose but let's see.

Slight mistake with lunch.  They put a chicken, egg and avocado salad on as a special today.  Great and I need a light lunch after the heavy weekends eating.  But they usually include some kind of carbs in there.  Some bread, or rice or cous cous.  But this had nothing.  Now I'm still hungry!

It will do me good but I will just have to eat my protein bar early and eat a meal before running club tonight, then have a snack later.

I also have a dilemma for this hill climb with the Tri club tomorrow.  I want to ride to it as it's only 9 miles there (and obviously back).  But I need to be there for 6.30pm.  So I reckon I'll have to finish work a bit early, grab a sandwich at home before I leave and take some bars in case I need energy to get back home.

By the way, with running club tonight.  Given the hot weather and lack of running quick, I will go with the slow group and just get some miles in.  I need a few quicker, longer runs before I run with my previous middle group.

Running club after work. I’ve not been on their Monday run for what must be well over a year now if not 2 years. And as it’s summer they go off road. Well I picked the wrong group as we really went off road!

Ended up with almost 7 miles. Slow but tough through woods and fields. I’ve not run that distance in a long, long time. I can’t even remember when I went over 10k. Anyway, it’s all good for me.

It has wiped me out and I have decided to not do the gym tomorrow morning.
