Must have supplements?

So most people use supplements and for most of them its just a want rather than a need.

What do you use and out of them what supps would you class as essential for your training?

I use

Whey
Caffiene tabs
+ Vits , oils.

For me they're both essential , the whey is quick and easy as I dont always have time to get all my protein needs from food , as with the oils/vits(usually used on low carb diet) and the caffiene I use because I love a buzz in the gym , I could go without it but when I do it doesnt seem right and sometimes I need it to give me a kick in the morning. I do have other supps in the cupboard but to be honest I never bother using anything else apart from the above.

Other things I have but only have them as they were cheap or fancied giving them a try

PHD waxy vol
HMB
L glut
Various pre workouts

The PHD is quite handy though to be honest , just never usually fits in with my training.

The only thing I always buy when low or run out is the whey and caffiene.

I would say similar to you. Protein Blend, Fish oils or other healthy fat, multivit and some kind of stimulant to give me a kickstart.

This, they're supps.  They can be naturally gotten with a good diet.

    Although, some do help.

If I had to choose, for me it'd be:
    Whey & EFA's

I think some people here are missing the point of this thread and just taking the question as 'what supplements do you like to use?'.

Do some of you guys really feel that pre-workout supps, glutamine and creatine are 'essential'?

I have tried to go to the gym for a couple of weeks without pre workout supplements and really struggled. I find, especially after a hard day at work, something like No Xplode or Jack3d really helps me focus and get in the zone.

I take protein shakes but as the other guys have said, these aren't essential if you have a high protein diet. I eat loads of meat but take them just to supplement.

As already mentioned wouldn't consider anything as essential though i don't think id manage to fit everything into my diet without a few like:

Protein - just because its easy to keep in the car
    Fish oils
    Multivit

nothing exciting most of it comes from food once you have a solid diet in place.

    I would agree with the majority of the above. They are called supplements to do exactly that, supplement your dietary needs. Really, they are a handy, sometimes nice tasting convenience. Been training for 12 years now and i never really take anything other than;

Whey - Reflex or Applied Nutrition
    MultiVit
    Glucosamine
    L-Glutamine
    KreAlkalyn - Applied
A pre-workout if i am knackered! (RAMPAGE by Physical edge, stronger then Jack3D)...

I just find they help my recovery tonnes. If i am dieting though i eat a shed load of fish and tend to ease off on the Whey.
