Definitely. Probably need to be moving some decent weight using shoulder girdle muscles. Main goal will be the weight loss but I know I'll get stronger as the pud comes off (well up until I hit the low 13 stone mark).

Will have to re jig workout plan as I can't see me getting 100 for 10 after two hard sets of squats.

The ship seems to have steadied a bit yesterday and today. Xmas day and Boxing day ****e, ****in sister kicking off AGAIN. Her husband is a very mild mannered chap and let's her get away with so much crap. She doesn't like it when I call her on her terrible behaviour and how she speaks to the husband and also my mother. Don't have to see the bitch for a while now, thank ****.

The gym session yesterday has helped a lot. I don't start my new job until the new year and I have been lacking structure to my days. Got the next week planned out so that will, hopefully, help.

Sorry to hear that you're afflicted with a rotten sibling, too. I don't know why my sister is the way she as my mother is a lovely, caring person and my dad was the most laid back, considerate bloke ever. Unfortunately, my mum (as is a mother's way) gives my sister chance after chance. She accepts that I'm done with her but I'm the one who has to support her when sister upsets her.

In other news, I've got a ****in cold.

So, the cold hasn't fully surfaced and, touch wood, I feel like I've a dash more energy than yesterday. Ate pretty clean the past two days and have done loads of stretching. Tried a few new stretches (mainly hip flexor) and watched WSM, does that count as a workout?

****in missus downed a load of wine, last night and got uber insecure, yet again. Full of apologies this morning but it is grating a bit. Overall, she is brilliant, however, I don't like dealing with her when she goes into insecure drunk mode. Went to bed early last night and got up early to make sure she got out for work on time. Quiet evening later, going for a curry at 1830 and not gonna booze when we get home. I doubt the wench will want to see anything alcoholic for a few days, given this morning's hungover condition.

Changed things up.

Barbell Bench Press 80k x 10, 85k x 7, x7
Viking Press added 40k to the machine for a set of 5 and then a set of 6

Triceps Push down 25k x 2 sets of 10

Ab work and stretching

No sets were taken to failure. Backed off on the pushdowns as pushing muscles had enough. Felt good to move a touch heavier weight on the bench. This week has been, bar two slices of cake, very good in terms of eating the right things. Haven't had a drink for nearly a week and that's defo helping.

Missus jacked her job in this morning so I've had that to deal with all day, bar the 40 minutes at the gym. Her reasons for quitting were valid, I just wish that she had quit a month ago as she's dragged it out and now it's gonna take longer to get her back on an even keel. Anyway, she's staying at her mum's tonight and her sisters are going round, so I will get some peace.

Barbell Squats 80k x 10, 90k x 6, x6.
Dumbbell Squats (holding dumbbell between legs) 25k dumbbell for three sets of 10
Lying Hamstring Curls supersetted with Standing Calf Press

2 supersets with 40k on curl machine and 50k on calf press machine. 10 reps on each, per set.

Stretching

****in Baltic in the gym and, the guy on the front desk aside, I was the only one in there. Something was telling me to take my over ear headphones with me and thank **** that I did as there was some slow RnB playing.

Squats were really good and didn't feel anything in my lower back or piriformis. Taking a second or so at the bottom of the rep, before ascending brings so much muscle stimulation throughout both thighs and both glutes. Those dumbbell squats were murder, I used a wide (For me) stance and worked quick with, more or less 30 seconds rest between those sets.

Training looks to be going well mate and packing in the booze is a positive step forward I really should do the same tbh.

Mrs packed her job in will that effect you financially? But if she wasn't happy money isn't everything I have walked out of many jobs that were effecting me on a personal level its just not worth it at the end of the day.

I think i jinxed myself, pal. Got pain on the front of my right knee. Think I let my knees travel too far forward on the squats, didn't feel like it at the time but, after reading stuff online; it seems that excessive knee travel will be the cause.

I woke up feeling ill again, I don't think the previous cold cleared off 100% and has reared its head.

Mrs is much better to be around now and she can afford to take a year off without working.

Aww fcukin hell mate just as your getting into it it all goes to hell .....hoping for a quick recovery on the cold front mate.

Squats have always been a problem area for me but I am trying cable squats instead they seem to keep my alignment in check better but only done them once so there's plenty time for them to fcuk up LOL

Good news your Mrs is already feeling better and being able to take time out with no worries will certainly help things.

I'm not a natural squatter, I have very long femurs and if I don't concentrate 100% then my hips get pushed too far back. It may not have been the squats which caused it but we're merely the straw which broke the donkeys back.

Will have a look into the cable squats and give em a blast. Feeling stronger today so going gym in a mo, I'll either feel terrible afterwards or the cold will get a million times worse.

****in dog has been scratching it's ear, vets at midday. It's got the cone of shame on at the minute, which it's absolutely delighted about.

Dumbbell Rows 37.5 x 10, 45k x 7, x 7
Straight arm pulldowns 30k x 2 sets of 12
Shrug machine 35k on each side for 3 sets of 10
EZ bar curls with Fat Gripz 7.5k each side x 12, x 11, x 6

Stretching

All felt good, loved the Fat Gripz (one series). Seemingly more bicep stimulation than doing the curl without them. Was gonna do rack pulls, however, lower back didn't feel right so I sacked them off.

Fat gripz are brilliant. Love using them on DB curls and DB rows. Also great for light deadlifts or just deadlift holds.
