I think your grip will improve over time, but if you want to add in direct forearms its cool, I do two sets of 15 on back day at the end when they are pumped from back.
I have small hands grip is always difficult so use straps when I have to.
Some guys will say no your forearms will get it all from gripping on pulling exercises, but whats wrong with hitting a muscle direct?
You can also do cable biceps curls with a rope, holding it in the middle and trying not to let it slip - don't hold it against the stops at the end thats cheating.
Forearms are like the calves of your arms, would you not hit them direct and say they get enough squating or do you do calves? think about it 8-)
