MyProtein Calcium Caseinate

Thought i would start a thread for my 1000th post.

I read alot of reviews with people often saying it is a very thick shake etc and hard to mix, so most people on here opt for the MPC instead.

I decided to give this stuff a whirl and ordered 5kg last week from MP, was delivered very quickly.

What surprised that they sent me two tubs (one of the massive ones that you get wpc 80 in and then a small one) im guessing the mass of cc is more than wpc etc.

The night approached and I could not wait to try the stuff out, normally i have 65g of whey for my bedtime shake so knowing this was thick stuff i decided to first try 30g with double the amount of milk i normally use, i put it in my blender (with some chocolate nesquick) turned the blender on and within in a few secons my blender was making an awful noise.

Switched it off looked inside and the misxture had solidified(if thats a word lol)i put my spoon in and it was like a rich chocolate desert very firm in texture it was amazing.

So i have been eating loads of my new found desert lol!

I do have the right measurements sorted at night time now though so its a nice thick shake. Also i find when i wake up im not as hungry, which helps on a cut!

Great product and good value for money imo.

Thumbs up from me!

I have this too and it requires much more water than whey. I like a strong taste though so it's a fine balancing act getting just the right amount of water to make it liquid enough to drink, without using too much so that taste weakens. I also find that it thickens less with less shaking, so the timing of shakage is crucial. Not only that, but once shaken, time is of the essence as it also thickens even after stopping shaking! This is probably the casien absorbing the water further. All in all - a pretty stressful time. Get it right and I'm a happy chappie, get it wrong and I'm drinking weak tasting stuff, or @rsing about adding more water and re-shaking.

Was considering getting this cause of the low lactose, but I might wait to see if any of the suppliers decide to stock MPI. What if you add a dash of whey to CC, does it make mixing easier?

Yes at night time i just use cc and mix in a blender, for my morning shake i do 20g whey and 10g cc mixes fine in a shaker.

    Hi,

Glad you like the Calcium Caseinate, however we would recommend our new Instant Milk Protein over Calcium Caseinate as a casein source. Have a read of the link below, it is by far the best MPC we have ever tried (and we have tried lots and lots):

    http://www.myprotein.co.uk/bulk-powders/protein-powders/instant-milk-protein/

It mixes in a glass with a fork and has no gritty texture like all other MPC's.

No date confirmed yet, depends on selling current stocks of our old MPC first. :)

anyone tried MP's new Instant MPC?

Yes, I bought 2kg. Its a very light texture, lighter than MP Max Whey. Mixes with ease, and tastes okay without flavouring. I never had a problem with the MPC before, but the new one is a noticable improvement. Been using it in my morning shake for about a week now.

    PB and james...

im assuming you have tried mixing it with concentrate aswell to see what the combo is like (like 90+ etc) does it mix better when the 2 dried powders are blended together first like that?

Its not a easy ingredient to source in Europe. However our new Instant Milk Protein has only 1.4g's of lactose per 30g. We will continue to look at MPI, but at the moment no plans.
