no they don't price match them. They tell me that 'once they confirm that wpc80 has stock, then they'll match it (told me this about 2 weeks ago)'. I KNOW wpc80 has stock, it's just an excuse

FROM what i have read i dont think its fair on mp to pricematch, as mp provide a much better service, like quick postage

wpc80 isnt even the guys main company ive read so thats why some orders take a bit to be dispatched

    all IMO

i know they had stock a few weeks back

Two posts this weekend both stated that money had been taken but they thought they'd waited a fair old bit of time to get it, if at all, delivered (although it does specify that deliveries can take some time on his site). Oliver at MP and myself (and I'll assume others in the trade) were approached by Simon at WPC80 re obtaining stock (ie: 600+ kilos of WPC 80). There have been several posts on the subject of lack of stock and an increase in price of WPC right across the board - so CNP on down will all be paying a whole lot more. I have a very good idea just how much Simon sells / sold and so will hazard a guess that it is extremely unlikely he will have managed to get much of, if any, stock in. The bigger the company the better the buying power and I know that we do 10x as much business as WPC80 and have are in the process of securing an alternative supply of some material.

Based on all that and an email I have from Simon I think it's fair to say that MP is NOT oblidged to price match a company that does not have any or if he does very low stocks of material to sell.

Yes Steve (Mobster) is correct. We have emailed WPC80.co.uk twice and both times they said they didn't have stocks? We can only match\beat prices when stocks are confirmed (and verified) by us.

    Thanks

For all those who seek this price match service..... how come none of you order from the seller that has it cheaper as that way they'll stay in business and keep the offer whereas this way they simply get pipped and will lose business and ultimately fold I would have thought, and then where are you?

I would have thought if MP are good (which they are as are all of our sponsors I have found) then why not show loyalty and fairness by paying a small extra for the higher level of service given

Loyalty and fairness? Oh come off it! Fairness... I don't see how using the pricematcher is unfair!

My last order was price match....I matched with BP. The order without the match would have been £30 more. That £30 being 30%! As if I'm going to pay £30 more for this fairness and loyalty concept!

The reason I didn't just use bulkpowders... because some problems people have had with them... and the fact they don't have a phone number on their site doens't look great - in fact it looks really bad. But if MP didn't pricematch I would buy from BP as I know they do come through.

As to the point about why not just buy from the company offering the price up front on their site rather than run off to MP... well, for the reason I explained, but also because MP have a wider range.

I may well go with BP next time as MP don't appear to price match the beta alanine - I realise they would match if I contacted them, but if seems like a hastle.

Wow... unless I'm reading wrong you seemed to take that one a bit personally. Admittedly fairness wasn't the right word but I sent it before that really registered with me TBH.

I was more commenting on how far everyone seems to take this price match thing. I mean if I shopped with them, then found it cheaper elsewhere then I'd probably go for it but then I'd also try the cheaper company first I think. There always seem to be threads discussing their price match and people trying to find the same product cheaper yet still raving about the top quality service. Now I don't expect anyone to pay way over the odds, but personally I don't mind paying a little more for peace of mind and quality service.

That was really the point I was trying to make.

I didn't take it personally, lol; you would have had to say "Puzzle you're a disloyal skintflint" for that.

Glad you mention this! The site in question pricematch us on a huge amount of products; take a look at how much the price difference is on a lot of them! I think it's shown by the amount of price matches for us and what was said by Puzzle below, that if we weren't around then a LOT of people would be paying a LOT more for their orders, fact. Perhaps people should take a look at some of their old receipts from before we were around... maybe you will be surprised at the astronomical prices you were paying for items that are now vastly cheaper, to match or come closer to our pricing (without any reduction in raw material cost!)

I understand Puzzle's reasons for not using us; telephone number we will have asap (but then huge companies like Dabs don't have one either) but do try to respond to emails quickly, as for product range we are expanding all the time. If we dont have something you want then email us and request it and we will do our best to get it in asap

If a company wanted to truly offer all their customers the best deal and make good the claim of being the cheapest; then they would simply lower their website prices to those of a competitor who clearly is offering better permanently. The only reason you would not do that is in the hope that many of your customers do not know about a cheaper competitor and simply trust in a statement such as below. Misplaced trust unfortunately!

I had an email on this very topic and answered it thus. Overheads and expenses differ. MP for example moved to some nice new premises and have more staff than us. One product they sell varies in price according to how it is paid (From £41.00 to as low as £27.99). In fairness the move and staff cost money. BP and ourselves do not price match but BP has another company (CHUK) re-selling items which helps support low prices. With us we've put on a lot of events and sponsor a few athletes as well as having provided items as prizes for many years now. Bulkwhey and WPC80 are more or less one man bands. If every single company basically cut their own throats and decided to make 1p per tub in order to compete nothing could be added back, service standards might lower and so on.

It all amounts to circumstance and those differ from company to company. In the same way that resellers offer different discounts on some products to others and these differ from one company reselling to another expect the same from bulk sellers.

Makes sense... however we recently moved to new premises several thousand sq ft larger than MP and a lot more expensive per sq ft too. Obviously we need the space because of CHUKS and a distribution division which accounts for a lot of it; but our overheads are certainly not less.

At the end of the day if you are promising your customers that you are the cheapest in Europe, then you should be; or at least as far as you know. You cant check every competitor everyday but if you have twenty or thirty price matches for one company alone, then i would say you are pretty well aware that your promise of being the cheapest is BS. Price matching everyone and calling yourself the cheapest means nothing, anyone can advertise high prices and just price match other companies. What makes you the cheapest is when you advertise the lowest prices in the first place. If you're not doing that then you are simply lying to your customers quite blatently.

P.S. We do price match like for like products
