NEW Deadlift PB Tonight!

Posting here, cause not many read my boring Journal -

A really wierd Deadlift night!! Felt like crap coming in, stretched, etc energy drink had no effect, a real
pissy, lethargic feeling , plus partner never made it!
I wante to go to maybe just over a planned opener of say 540.
So did GM 135X5, 135X5
Deadlifts 135x5, 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 325x5, 385x3, suited up 455x1, 500x1 felt heavier than usual
and my expectations of how I felt were caring over to my lift
Rested about 5-7 mins and loaded 550...I told myself if I can't do this then its light weight only till comp..anyway I got it..Then decided to at least "pull" on my PB of 600..well got it too...with a little in the tank also very pleased!! Thought it woldn't be no harm in grabbing a little more weight and get the feel for what I wanted to eventually "get" in Oct comp...loaded 615 on the bar, took a good 5-7 min break and whipped my back a few lashes with a smaller leather belt..stung but got my adrenaline cranking! I pulled as fast and hard as possible and it hit the old familiar knee area..thought it was overwait.....I'm still holding it, pull my head toward the ceiling and ground that bastard OUT!!! new pb of 615!!!
I then sit down and was feeling light headed and hands were shaking like crazy!!! AWESOME

Seriously nice lift, you put it down a tad fast for my tastes, but a nice lift

obviously you must be doing something right to shift that kind of weight....

but did no-one else think his back was really rounded?! from what i've been told, that looks like bad form.

Pughny - You are EXACTLY CORRECT! I couldn't seem to get hips down and think it was because I pushed my belt down or belt too damn tight! I've been toying with the drop and rock technique and the drop straigh down technique...and think I'm mixing the 2 and results are what you just saw...My leg strength falls ell short of my back and I seem to rely on my back more..

I don't normally slam weight like that as its bad practice, but that belt lashing was stinging
and I was really pyched up

I think you let the bar get away from your body as well, which is something to watch. Looked very easy though.

Yeah that too LOL I do have good lockout power and hopefully if I keep doing the speed deads and platform deads my floor power will grow. I think the comp video of 585 on Johns website is how I should try to lift

Read a good article posted on another link from T-NATION about the perfect pull. Seems like my recent
symptons are lack of flexibility in hamstrings.. I also think for sure I need to loose the drop and rock technique used by lifter like Andy
Bolton..works wonders for him, but not sure I have it nailed yet. Hopefully I can get my form sorted on max attempts and get to the 300 kg mark as a 100-110kg lifter....
Also was revisisting Konstantins lifts, he also has virtually no arch in low back, but had AMAZING explosion and erector strength!!

I use it myself and I think it's very important to my pull. I think the key to itis dropping from the right place. It's hard to describe but I'd say the key is concentrating on unlocking the knees rather than the hips when you go down. Don't think about the hips at all. Think of the power winding up through your shins as you drop and then transferring immediately into your quads right at the moment you begin the pull.

I think I've got it nailed now, but in the past I have sometimes done it well and sometimes badly without quite realising what the difference was. I can't really put it in proper biomechanical terms but I can definitely feel the difference. I think the person to watch in Benedikt Magnusson.
