She's big on home cooking and makes everything herself.  Her youngest is 15 now and she's a stay at home mum so has loads of time for cooking.  In fact she does so much cooking that she's often got a freezer full of meals she's pre-made just because she likes making them.  There's always loads of stew for me when I got over there, or as we call it stewroids as I'm a huge believer in stew for making gains.

It's getting there mate, 2 more weeks and I should be cooking with gas.  Dips are going where I want them too, I just need to be strict and keep my reps in the 8-12 range.  The urge to go heavy and smash out some triple and singles is very strong.  However, I feel dips are much more effective in the classic hypertrophy ranges.

You cannot beat a very hearty stew. It really is food of the goods. GOT to have dumplings tho.

I eat beef stew for 8 of my meals throughout the week.  It's one of my favourite foods. i wish I could have the dumplings but they would send my IBS into over drive.

Nordic Curls -- Hip Extension Focus
x 8 reps --Nope, these hurt my toe.

Trap Bar Landmine Press
bar x 15 reps (Each Side) --Nice warm up for the shoulders and keeps very good alignment.  Also I'm testing this to see if they will be ok for my brother.

A1  Rack Push Press

90kg x 3 reps
100kg x 3 reps --Video failed but I have a nice photo of my feet as consolation prize.
110kg x 1 rep
120kg x 0 reps
120kg x 0 reps -- Feels like it's reasonably close.  I can get this to clear my head but it hangs for a moment and comes back down.  With better technique this will go.  I'm really rusty at the moment so realistically this is the best push press variant I can do for the time being.

Who needs dumplings when you have beef.  If in doubt just add more beef.

Great lifting mate.

Why do you say the Rack Push is your best variant you can do right now?

As for stews....

Firstly.. yes! I make a huge one every week it is power food! I always chuck in a few bits of oxtail pieces which are dirt cheap but make it soooo much richer ! Also roasting some beef bones first and then making a bone broth to use to stew the meat is a must. The collagen can only be a good thing and I’m sure it’s helped my knees and elbows..

Secondly... a stew is not a stew without dumplings! But if flour affects your IBS try these.. my keto dumpling recipe

100g Beef Suet
100g Ground Almonds
3 Tbs Milled Flax Seed
1 tsp Xanthan Gum
2 Tbsp Chopped Parsley
50g Grated strong Cheese (cheddar , Parmesan etc)
Salt & Pepper
– Water

Cheers mate.  I'm very rusty with my push press technique which would get better with a bit of effort.  I'm stronger from the rack right now so I just went with that.  I will be working on technique but it will likely take me a few weeks to see improvements.

Yes mate, I used chicken bone broth in my stews as I like the flavour.  Hmm I'm up for adding bones sound pretty good to me, I take it you just go to the butcher as ask for them?

On the dumplings we disagree.  I'm with you on flavour but in terms of performance I think there are better options.  I'd much prefer potatoes or rice.  In fact beef stew and rice makes up the majority of my weekly meals.

Big push press still at 110kg, that 120kg is agonisingly close. I do love your rack push press setup though, proper explosive movement right from the start.

I need to up my stew game. I've made plenty but most of them have been just ok. Animal's tip on beef bones seems like a winner, I clearly haven't been adding enough flavour!

Cheers dude, that exactly why I opted for the rack.  It's basically a yoke press (from strongman) but adapted for the barbell. The only real issue is I'm too disconnected from the bar so there is wasted leg drive.  I can do 120 BTN mainly because I'm driving directly into the bar.  This is the technique stuff I need to work on.

It's not just stew, its performance enhancing stew. I'm pretty sure adding the bones is the secret to animals majestic beard.

Wednesday 08th May 2019
My brother is yet to turn up but it has only been two weeks since he said he would start training again...

Band Rows -- X rows
x 25 reps
x 25 reps
x 25 reps

Band Triceps Overhead Extensions
x 25 reps
x 25 reps
x 25 reps

I managed to wear the wrong shoes today.  Normal I deadlift in shoes with almost no sole but today I had my Oly shoes on.  Clearly hadn't woken up when I put those on.

Trap Bar Deadlift --Low Handles
85kg x 3 reps
135kg x 3 reps
175kg x 3 reps
215kg x 3 reps
255kg x 1 rep
--Reverse Bands on
285kg x 3 reps
315kg x 3 reps --Kept it on the light side today as I have a master class at the weekend.
285kg x 3 reps
285kg x 3 reps

I should note that all my dead felt better off the floor today.  Is this the shoes or are the deficits paying off?

Band Pull Aparts

BP Planks

Seated Band Rows
x 25 reps

and it's all mine.  There is some veg under the meat but that is 2kg of beef sitting on top and it is glorious.

Toe is generally fine but there's a few thing I still can't do or that aggravate it.  It will be another couple of weeks before it is completely healed but it well on it's way.  I expected walking lunges to be killer but they were fine, a little unstable but fine. Dead held up nicely as well, due to my flat feet I've found really pushing my toes into the ground helps my knees track correctly and gives me more hip power.

You might find using oly shoes you get more quad activation so drive through the floor may be improved...even with the increased ROM due to the heel.

Nice sessions of late bud.
