Looked very smooth mate. Any toe issues when driving up on deads?

Love your home gym mate - some day i will get my home gym!

Cheers buddy, I'm very happy with how they went, lots of power through the hips.  I could feel the toes complaining but it was stable and performed how I wanted too.  The other week it just wouldn't work so that tells me its healing up.  Another 2 weeks and it should be back to full health.

I do love the garage, not sure how I would adjust to commercial gym now.

You might find using oly shoes you get more quad activation so drive through the floor may be improved...even with the increased ROM due to the heel.

Nice sessions of late bud.

The trap bar does lend itself to more quad dominance so it could just be a good combination. I wonder how much of a difference it would make to a straight bar.  Looks like there's and experiment on the cards.

Cheers dude, it feels like I'm making progress again.  My focus has been in other areas recently but I'm finding once again that just being strong helps in almost every area of my life.  Bracing in particular has had a big impact recently.

I think it's more accurate to say; "I'm not sure how a commercial gym would adjust to me now." lol

Solid training mate what happened on the weekend? Is it martial arts related?

Well that was a fun day. Master class is ****ing awesome and master Ze'ev is an absolute legend, can't wait for the next time he's over from Israel.

It's safe to say I had my arse kicked today, big time. Pealed myself off the floor at least 8 times. I was thoroughly out classed but the Israeli instructor I was paired with. It was a great lesson; there's always someone better than you. On the downside I can't walk now due to repetitive dead legs. It will probably take a week before I can use my left leg properly. That sounds negative but I'm happy that I kept on fighting and didn't give up despite taking a lot of damage. That's what it's all about really. Sometimes things won't go your way but when you're fighting a bear you don't stop when you're tired. You stop when the bear is tired. #BeDangerous

It's good to see what skill and dedication can yield even if it's at my own expense.  Some lessons though need to be learned the hard way.  It was certainly a hard lesson.

It was ****ing awesome mate.  Master Ze'ev only comes over once every few years so it's not an every day thing.  Apparently he was asking from a health and safety and insurance perspective how much blood he was allowed to spill.  I think in Israel it would have been even more brutal.

Leg is doing well.  It's given me a chance to test my contusion injury protocol (yes, I've actually thought about this).  Basically I doubled my food intake, I ate my same basic diet plus a s much other food as I could.  I also added more sleep including naps.  In addition when I wasn't eating or sleeping I was moving and circulating blood.  This has taken me from 10 degrees of movement to almost full range.  Don;t get me wrong it's still sore and if I took another wack it would be back to day 1 but for the time frame the progress has been amazing.

In short my principles are; Always be eating , always be moving, always be sleeping. Obviously there's contradictions in there but you get the point.

I should be out pressing tomorrow and back to normal by next week.

My bruises are in full bloom and some are quite spectacular.  I mostly feel fine now, it's just the severe bruising on my left quad and hamstrings plus the dodgy toe.  I'm taking the rest of this week as deload since I need to heal properly before getting back into it.  By Monday I should be good enough although anything quad intensive may have to take a bit of a back seat.

Wowsers that was tough.  The bar only weighs 35kg and in my worst interval I only got 3 reps.  Shoulders were pumped to an insane level, mostly in the medial delt.  I really like this so I may do it on overhead day and bench day.  I need to track my reps though and aim for 50 total.  Once I get that I can start to slowly increment.

The downside of course is home is Israel.  From the stories being told I'm glad martial arts is largely "fantasy" based.  Those guys have to live with a grim reality that I'm very glad to say is not a part of my everyday life.

Ha, well I'd take being able to squat again, not risking it while I have a bruise I can't cover with both hands.  Fingers crossed it will reduce a bit in the next few days.  It has started to change from an angry purple to an almost camouflaged yellow.

The things is mate, while it's not fighting based, you do put yourself through the mill.  Every time you get back under the bar, every time you step into the garage you are doing what most people won't.  You are setting yourself up for hard work and making changes.  Change is hard.  Every time you want to quit before your reps are done but you don't.  Every time you want to drop the last set because you're tired but don't.  Then my friend you are making the hard choices and pushing through.  That's how you improve, not by taking the easy route but by taking the hard path.  I feel sorry for people that are so weak of mind that they can't summon the will to change.  Lifting is hard or at least it should be.  It's a metaphor for life; if you always take the easy option you will never have results.  Putting in hard work on a consistent basis and always pushing on beyond your comfort zone is how you get better at lifting and life.  They are not too separate things but rather a symbiosis.

If you're shaking that means you are doing them right.  I don't know about you but I find they make you very aware of what is muscle and what is fat if you know what I mean.

No motivation today.  I'm always a bit like this on a deload, I can't help but feel it's a bit pointless and I'd be better off in bed.

Bench Press
60kg x 3 reps
80kg x 3 reps
100kg x 3 reps
120kg x 3 reps
140kg x 1 rep --Damn it, strained my left pec.  That's my fault for going too heavy on a deload and not doing any other lift, like a row.  I probably wasn't sufficiently warm.
--CG bench press
100kg x 3 reps --Nope, give it up before I do more damage.

Tabata Trap Bar Press
bar x 44 reps total

Band Pull Aparts

BP Planks

Seated Band Rows

Well that was fun.  I'm going to switch gear on bench for a while which I think I need mentally as well as physically.  My main lift will be using revers bands and likely with a close grip.  That means I can get some work in and give my pec enough time to heal up.  It will end up looking something like this (given an assumed current max of 150kg)

Cracking post mate and something we all tend to forget I think.

I recently tried a training deload again and just find it hard to back off lol. I took the rest of the week off from training and it's just convinced me that a complete stop for a week is the best thing. Then again I'm not strength based but I imagine it would be much the same.
