Nails Log - I just like lifting stuff

Hi Everyone.  A little about me, I train from my home gym (garage). I've been doing some form of lifting for about 12 years.  I have competed in strongman in the past but i just like lifting and competition doesn't hold any sway over me.  I may compete again, I may not.  My other major hobby is Krav Maga so a lot of my lift these days are to do with how beneficial they are to my fighting ability. However, lifting comes first.
 
I recently had a op (septoplasty) for breathing problems and sinus infection so I'm in recovery.  Doctors are due to sign me off in 4 weeks time. 
 
Monday 29th October 2018
 
Well today was the first day back after nearly 20 days away. I've pretty much been sat on the sofa for 2 weeks with some walks thrown in last week. Initially everything I did gave me a nose bleed so sitting still was my only option. I'm not recovered yet but I'm much further along that 2 weeks ago. It's time to get back on the horse but I think squats and dead will be out for a few more weeks.
 
Today was about testing the water and seeing what I can and can't do regards over heads.

A2 Step ups

x 8 reps (Each Side) --Again, great for both mobility and stability.

Dead Press
60kg x 5 reps
70kg x 5 reps
80kg x 3 reps
90kg x 1 rep
100kg x 1 rep --This is far beyond what I expected.
110kg x 1 rep --Ha, this was easier than 2 weeks ago. Very happy with how this went. There isn't really any pressure build up in my head and I have experience zero strength loss. Therefore I will re-start my 90kg Hepburn cycle and crack on.
 
Tabata Farmers Walk
55kg Each Hand. -- Damn my fitness has taken a hit. Chucking stuff like this in should help get back what I've lost.

Cheers mate, it's dead over at Sugden so I'm transitioning over to MT.  Seems like a good time to do it, just had the op I needed so it's a like a new beginning.

--Ok I've very happy with today's performance. Grip felt good and while the lift was a bit awkward I felt sort of natural. This is a good height for me so lets see how things go.

Walking Lunges x 100
--Ouch, why did I think this would be a good idea. great for both mobility and stability though. I need stuff like this right now.
Still taking is relatively easy, looking forward to getting back to so hard work.

I really like those handles, I think this will be a good lift for me.  It also helps to keep things fresh.
 
This week is a bit of an odd week since I need to find out what I can and can't get away with the the next month.  Itching to get back to a proper routine.  Oh and to hit something lol.

170kg x 3 reps -- OK, a bit slow but nose felt OK.

Cheers lads, despite the draw backs I love training on my garage.  It does force me to be a bit inventive at times so you will see some oddities that are largely due to lack of equipment.  However, I don't see this as a disadvantage but rather an opportunity to be creative and really think about why I'm performing a lift and what i intend to get put of it.

If and that's a big if - but if I move house ive got an agreement with the wife for a big enough garage/shed to kit out a home gym.

Welcome to the logs mate. I've had a read/look on Sugden a few times but it does appear to be pretty quiet so never bothered joining.
 
That Dinnie DL looks good, is that a contraption you've made? I've seen a similar strongman event before, but with 2 big rocks instead of plates.
 
And another home gymer! Excellent stuff!

A few bits of kit at home can work wonders, especially if you're having a hard time getting to the gym. My own set up saves me so much time as my closest gym of any standard is about 15 minutes drive.  I train at 6 am, and extra half hour at that time makes a bit difference.

Ha, thanks mate, I wish I had the skill to make something like that.  I bought them from Killer Strength Scotland.  The handles are exact replicas and the pins are the exact height of the stones. They're pretty much as close as I can get to the real thing.  Feels like I'll be up to the actual stone weight within a few weeks however, I'm in no rush.  I did send an email to get my name down to lift the real thing.  They need a recent video of me lifting 300kg (in any lift) without straps and 1 month notice.  TBH that's a bit quick for me, it will be in the new year at the earliest before I make the long trip north.

I would love a stone tour of Scotland...my missus fancies it as a holiday at some point too...I picked a good one...this time around lol.

Stone tour does sound appealing but one step at a time for me.  You on the other could probably do them as a medley.
