Naughty foods

Hi all,

What is the best way to stop yourself from eating naughty foods and drinks if you have no will power ?

Im finding it very hard to stop eating foods that are generally bad inc chocolate, drinking beer and sugar filled fizzy drinks.

The cravings I get for these things are sometimes very bad and wont go until I have something.

Any ideas or alternatives to the BAD foods would be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Protein bars and coke zero limit the damage, I consume loads of both of them.

I`ve never smoked so cant compare cravings really but it feels at times like my body is crying out for certain things and when I dont have them I get moody.

Coke zero is an option but i just wanna try n cut out all the sugar n crap n cant seem to do it.

Im very impulsive with things like chocolate or ice cream and used to put away kilos of the stuff.

I take two measures to stop this:

    1. Have a scheduled 'treat' day where you allow yourself a cheat meal, once per week works well with me.

    2. Have a small dose of 'treat' everyday to keep cravings at bay, e.g. one square of chocolate or a couple of spoons of ice cream.

Works for me but may not work for you!

    Plan ahead.
Eat on schedule, don't wait to feel hungry.
Learn to cook tasy meals if you can't.
Make sure the menu you set is stuff you like.  Don't plan on tuna if you hate fish.
Drink green tea and such like, helps surpress hunger a bit.

You may just crave the taste. SO if you crave chocolate then have a tub of quark with a square of dark chocolate melted into it.

I crave lasagne a lot of the time do i make it with courgettes instead of pasta and low fat quark spread for the white sauce and TVP for the mince.

Also including a little "bad" food into your diet as long as its 90% on the money is perfectly acceptable. You dont have ot live like a monk to get a good results. Its all about the big picture.

TIO outof ineterest if TVP better than mince? I am guessing it mst be because of the sat fat content, but never really gave it a thought

I couldnt say if its better as its fat free. Its not carb free though, but its 50g protein and 22g of carbs and a lot of fibre per 100g dry. The mince once hydrated is like a soft beef mince thats been boiled. I prefer it to beef anyway.

That and fact that its cheap as chips and i can store a load in the cupboard.

Thanks guys. Will try to look for alternatives to naughty foods.

When I eat crap I get bad spots on my face. At the mo im covered in them which gets me down. When im down I eat crap. Vicious circle n all that. Been good today tho n only drinking water and eating fruit as snacks so hopefully this will start to break the cycle.

Easy - don't go to the shops.

    Do what Wheels said.

And don't store any crap in the house, it's remarkable how much you don't want a chocolate bar if you have to walk half a mile to buy it first.

A stash of chocolate flavoured protein bars might be quite useful, too. Make them yourself from choccy protein powder - loads of easy recipes around.
