Neoprene knee wraps

I have just started using a pair of lonsdale ones when squatting. My knees feel much warmer and secure when using them. Also managed a a nice PB today which I put down to extra confidence and maybe a little more speed out of the hole.

Who else uses them?

Do you find you lift more?

Are they legal in raw comps?

Bench - 145kg
Squat - 190kg
Clean & Jerk - 129kg
Snatch - 98kg

    I havn't used them Jack.

They are not legal in either GBPF or BDFPA Unequipped. However they will be fine in any of the none tested feds whom have a 'raw' division. They allow knee wraps.

Many people still use them if they are unequipped lifters. They will use them in training and warming up but take them of on the platform.

Ok cheers Iain. My knees do sometimes get sore the day after a squat session but with these on they have been fine. I'll go for safety over what may be best for comp practising I think. If anything it will just make me a little weaker out of the whole I guess. I'm doing more deep front squatting to complement my Oly lifts so hopefully that will counter act it anyway.

How do you find proper knee wraps help?

Proper knee wraps can give you 20kg or more on your lifts and will help keep the knees safe. Although there is certanly some debate on the last point. In terms of preventing an acute injury def will help. There is some dicussion whether limiting/interfering with patella movement may be a problem.
