New Routine, Please Critique :) (check it out Toxic)

Hey guys, I made a post not long ago that got lost in the flood of threads that have come in. I was hoping to get some info on the new routine I have worked out, whether its good or bad, and how it can be improved.

My first workout was thrown out after I read ToxicToffee's beginner workout guide, but I wanted to make sure I grasped all the right ideas before I committed to it long term. Here it is as it stands so far.

3 day cycle, followed by a day of rest, then begin the cycle again.
All sets 5x5.

Day 1 (or "A" day, as its labeled on my excel spreadsheet :) ).
Benchpress
Curl Bar
Dead Lift
Compound Rows
Abdominal Curls (machine)

Day 2
Military Press
Leg Press
Incline Dumbell Press
Calf Raises
Shoulder Dumbell Raises

Day 3
Tricep Pull Downs
Pectoral Fly (machine)
Forearm Curls
Shoulder Shrugs
Full Ups (start with weights on floor, stand up, curl, then raise above head, then back down, repeat)

The full ups thing was kinda a name I made up for some great compound exercise that I really like. Anyway, please critique a lot! I wanna know if I'm on the right track.

Thanks so much,
Garry

Are you having any rest inbetween the days workouts ie Day1, Day off, Day 2, Day off etc?

No, I wasn't planning on it. Do I need to put a day of rest in between in each one? I was just planning on having the one day of rest after the three day cycle was complete.

Yeah, I also thought the 5x5 thing for some exercises was kinda weird, thats why I wanted to check it with you guys first. Also, I have been doing more reps than just 5 on several of the sets, doing 20-40 on forearm curls, usually sets of 10 or 8 on everything else. I haven't really started the 5x5 thing yet since I was unsure of it. I'll try reading the articles again, I thought I had grasped the idea but I guess I have not.

Ok, how about this, assuming I do 5x5 on the following:

    Benchpress
    Incline Press
    Military Press
    Deadlift

And then 5x8-10 on the following:

    Curl Bar
    Compound Rows
    Leg Press
    Shoulder Dumbell Raises
    Pectoral Fly's
    Tricep Pull Downs
    Shoulder Shrugs
    Full Ups

5x15-20 on calves and abdominal curls (machine weighted)
    5x25-35 on forearm curls

3 day cycle being the same, followed by one day of rest.

    Does that sound better?
Am I choosing the right exercises? I read the articles and it seems like I'm including everything correctly.
Are the exercises spread correctly throughout the days?
Am I overtraining at this pace and cycle format?
Do I need to rest in between every day?

If this new idea is bogus I'm just gonna start that HIT training from the HIT article, but I would have some questions as to what kind of weight I would need to use, and whether or not I'm training to failure, etc.

Let me know, I'm trying my best to learn!!!

    Thanks,
    Garry

if 5*5 is your cup of tea, why don't you simply use one that already exists?

I don't know what your aims are, but here are 2 tried and tested 5*5 IF 5*5 is what you want to do:

    http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224
A very interesting thread to answer most questions about this sort of programme

    http://www.geocities.com/elitemadcow1/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm
    Another very interesting read

Both of these are solid programmes. I know that 5*5 is not everyone's thing, but I enjoyed it and these 2 are both good ways of setting up a programme, especially for a beginner.
