Is it right to class her as a woman if she's got more testosterone in her body than a man?

bollocks. She is a woman, no question about it - or then we should cancel all "assisted" lifting records.

    Good for her!

Agree with Vegan and Al. It's a completely nonsensical attitude to not acknowledge a woman who takes steroids, whilst thinking it acceptable for mens powerlifting records.

No one has said that it's acceptable for male powerlifters to take steroids. I only compete in drug free competitions and don't recognize "assisted" records as true records either.

There are an awful lot of men, including many on this forum, who would never match Becca's lifts even with a whole pharmaceutical company backing them up! You know why? Because they dont have the dedication, the mental drive, and the courage to push themselves to the very limits of their abilities.

To push yourself to the very edge is something very few people can actually do. I know of alot of drug users, but I dont know many 700 pound squatters...

She is clearly a woman and I dont dis steroids in their place. Massive amounts of test. in a womans body to beat records is not their place imo.

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way.. and it's not a condemnation of "assisted" records... like Ben Johnson loosing his "world record" off the official athletics record sheet all that time ago due to steroid list.. at the end of the day .. he is still a human being and at the time.. he had run faster than any human ever had.. so the Guiness book of records will still be right to have his name under that category.. (not now obviously as his record has been broken)...

BUT .. (you knew it was comming huh)... there IS a big question that has to be asked about WOMEN achieving results with the aid of MALE hormones. If a human beings hormonal balance is that of a MAN.. should we consider the type of genitalia of that human to be the only deciding factor as to gender ? What differenciates a womans physical prowess compared to a mans?? it certainly isn't the physical presence of a womb and ovaries... it is the resulting hormonal balance that those organs create that is the reason.. so by effectively changing the hormonal balance within a womans body to one that goes part or all of the way towards making her hormonal balance the same as a mans ... you really do have to question her gender.. speaking strictly within the parameters of her physical capabilities that is..

Think about it.. it's a serious consideration.

I can't believe what I'm reading. How can you guys endorse something that is completely illegal? Something that sends a completely erroneous message to the youth of this world?

Following your logic, you can do something illegal as long as you're really good at it, man or woman. So, we should admire international drug dealers, bank robbers that don't get caught, and all these a-holes in the U.S. in corporate America that have robbed everyone blind? They're doing things that are illegal, but they're good at it, so it must be o.k.

GMT, i totally disagree with you mate. It is not about male or female hormones, both sexes have BOTH! ok, males IN GENERAL tend to have more test than females, but this is not always the case. AS users use amounts of test which are, what?, 25 times higher than the natural levels? Do not talk about hormonal balances in that case mate :)

FrankieNY, i symphatise with the sentiment, though this legal-illegal question doesn't go down well with people because i've never met a person who hasn't broken the law and usually continue to do so all the time (people who speed, people who smoke grass, people who lie a bit in their tax returns etc).

But at this board using straps or gloves is cheating, not going 100% parallel in a squat is cheating, but shooting artificial testosterone to your body 25 fold of your natural level is not "as long as you work hard". Assistance is ok, as long as it is chemical, not mechanical

human being and at the time.. he had run faster than any human ever had..

GTM, we are [possibly for the first and last time :)] in total agreement here, but not everywhere else, if she was born a woman, and will die one, and, questionable though it is, what happens in between is her business. bottom line, she is a bird and thats that.
good luck to her, and well done in my book.

i mean, if i suddenly injected more eostrogen into my bloodstream than pamela anderson has ever had, does that make me a woman, just because of some hormones??
