Newbie

Need a quick bit of advice.

I have not trained for a few years - currently 35 years old 6ft 6ins tall and weigh 19 and 1/2 stone - I have recently lost 3 stone via dieting and now feel ready to go to a gym.

I have been re-reading about Mike Mentzer alot and I am thinking about his consolidation HIT program to kickstart the ole muscles.

Is this this a good starting point? My goals are to lose more Fat but add more strength and a bit of size (in the right places) I'd still place highly for "most ab"

Would appreciate some guidance.

Thanks

Jason

    check out the articles dude

on a side note your gonna REALLY struggle to gain muscle & loose fat- prioritise one with diet and cardio if required and then think about the other a few monhs time.

    Welcome to Muscletalk!

To be honest i would simply say to start with a nice basic free weight routine based around compound lifts and lifting as heavy as you can.

Thanks for the feedback. My main focus I suppose my goals do contradict themselves.

First task - Stop reading muscle mags - drop 40lbs of Fat and Gain 20lbs of muscle by eating this pill!

I think I like the idea of just lifting heavy, strict, multi joint compound movements. While I like the Mentzer 1 day in 4 workout I am not stupid enough to think that this won't hurt a little bit!

I will put together a program and would welcome feedback on it.

    Thanks so far!
